Journal ArticleDOI

Development of wake meandering detection algorithms and their application to large eddy simulations of an isolated wind turbine and a wind farm

TL;DR: In this article, the centerline of a wind turbine wake is detected using a vortex-particle mesh method with the blades modeled using immersed lifting lines, and the most robust algorithm is then applied to investigate the turbine wakes positions inside a wind farm.
Journal ArticleDOI

A numerical study of correlations between wake meandering and loads within a wind farm

TL;DR: In this paper, the wake meandering is captured through a centerline tracking, itself based on the available power in the flow, and two turbulence intensities are investigated, TIs = 6% and 10%.
Journal ArticleDOI

LES of wind farm response to transient scenarios using a high fidelity actuator disk model

TL;DR: In this paper, large eddy simulations coupled to actuator disks are used to investigate wake effects in wind farms and an effort is made on the wind turbine model: it uses the prevailing velocities at each point of the disk to estimate the aerodynamic loads and is improved using a tip-loss correction and realistic control schemes.
