Determination of the local lattice distortions in the CuO2 plane of La1.85Sr0.15CuO4.

TL;DR: The measurement of the Cu-O distances by a local and fast probe, polarized Cu {ital K}-edge extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) in La{sub 1.85}Sr{sub 0.15}CuO{sub 4} crystal shows two different conformations of theCuO octahedra below 100 K assigned to two types of stripes with different lattice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modifications in solvent clusters embedded along the fibers of a cellulose polymer network cause paper degradation.

TL;DR: A model that is able to deconvolve the scattering contributions of both polymeric structures and solvent clusters trapped along the polymeric fibers is developed and provides a boost to the effort to preserve cellulose-supported material.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stripe structure in the CuO2 plane of perovskite superconductors.

TL;DR: In this paper, an anomalous long Cu-O (planar) distance, 196 \AA{, assigned to distorted strips of width W intercalated with undistorted stripes of width L, was measured by polarized Cu K-edge extended x-ray-absorption fine structure at T${\mathit{T}}_{\Mathit{c}}$
Journal ArticleDOI

The Measurement of the Polaron Size in the Metallic Phase of Cuprate Superconductors

TL;DR: In this paper, the statistical distribution of the Cu site conformations in the CuO2 plane of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+y (Bi 2212) has been measured by a fast and local probe Cu K-edge extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) as a function of temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI

The instability of a 2D electron gas near the critical density for a Wigner polaron crystal giving the quantum state of cuprate superconductors

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the metallic phase in the Bi2212 high Tc cuprate superconductors results from an instability of a 2D-electron gas with density lower or larger than the critical density ϱc for the formation of a generalized Wigner polaronic crystal.
