Highly scalable near memory processing with migrating threads on the emu system architecture
Timothy J. Dysart,Peter M. Kogge,Martin Deneroff,Eric Bovell,Preston Briggs,Jay B. Brockman,Kenneth Jacobsen,Yujen Juan,Shannon K. Kuntz,Richard Lethin,Janice O. McMahon,Chandra Pawar,Martin Perrigo,Sarah Rucker,John Ruttenberg,Max Ruttenberg,Steve Stein +16 more
TL;DR: A new, highly-scalable PGAS memory-centric system architecture where migrating threads travel to the data they access, and a comparison of key parameters with a variety of today's systems, of differing architectures, indicates the potential advantages.

Beyond Static Parallel Loops: Supporting Dynamic Task Parallelism on Manycore Architectures with Software-Managed Scratchpad Memories
Lin Cheng,Max Ruttenberg,Dai Cheol Jung,Dustin Richmond,Michael Taylor,Mark Oskin,Christopher Batten +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a work-stealing runtime is proposed for manycore architectures with SPMs, which can also improve the performance of irregular workloads when executing on these architectures, and three optimizations that allow the runtime to leverage unused SPM space for further performance benefit.
