This paper introduces a new unit commitment problem, adapting extended priority list (EPL) method. The EPL method consists of two steps, in the first step we get rapidly some initial unit commitment problem schedules by priority list (PL) method. At this step, operational constraints are disregarded. In the second step unit schedule is modified using the problem specific heuristics to fulfill operational constraints. To calculate efficiently, however, note that some heuristics is applied only to solutions can expect improvement. Several numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method.

A fast technique for unit commitment problem by extended priority list

Microgrids with distributed renewable energy sources are especially sensitive to power quality disturbances. To mitigate the effects of distortions, they must first be detected and classified. Automatic classification of power quality disturbances has been extensively studied. However, real-time classification is yet to be investigated. Real-time classification is especially important in microgrids as they include a large number of subsystems. This paper presents a critical systematic review focused specifically on real-time applications. For this review, 809 papers were identified and the most cited papers of each year were analyzed in detail, i.e., a total of 134 papers were analyzed. Studies on all types of power systems were considered as their distortions can be observed in microgrids. These studies were categorized into three groups depending on their real-time abilities, and a comprehensive analysis to examine key items was performed. Subsequently, the research challenges in real-time operation were identified, i.e., extracting a reduced number of discriminant features with minimal processing, achieving a balance between classification accuracy and computational complexity, using datasets with more types of disturbances, including more types of combined disturbances, using real data to validate the classifiers, distributing public comprehensive datasets, embedding classifiers in dedicated hardware, improving the performance of real-time classification systems, conducting objective real-time analyses in physical devices, and setting a common evaluation framework to objectively compare real-time operations. These research challenges must be tackled to obtain a viable, accurate, fast, low-cost, and embeddable power quality classification system that facilitates the inclusion of distributed renewable energy sources in microgrids.

A Three Decades of Marvellous Significant Review of Power Quality Events Regarding Detection & Classification

In This paper, an intelligent control system is presented which opens a new era of decentralization up to the maximum extent. It consists of three management level of agents to control with defined roles and skills. These agents interact and communicate with each other through fastest and shortest possible ways to make decisions locally and optimally. The fastest communication, interaction, and coordination, among these agents, ensure power quality (PQ) by determining, frequency and voltage of the microgrid via set points to optimize the overall operation. The intelligent control system is using Multi-agent system (MAS) Technique in grid-connected and islanded mode to detect, classify and reserve power quality in real time scenario. The top-level agents control the decisions regarding PQ of electricity Market, the middle level of agents compensate power and its quality between demand and supply while the first level of agents is ensuring power quality along with local droop control. Each independent component of the Microgrid is represented as an intelligent software agent. All intelligent physical standards are developed and implemented in intelligent MAS. The proposed control architecture and strategies are analyzed and tested in detail under various conditions for the real-time control of microgrid. The outcome of the study demonstrates the viability of the presented strategies and its control, and it also shows the excellent ability of the MAS technique for the functional operation of micro-hybrid grids.

Intelligent Control System to Detect, Classify and Reserve Power Quality in Micro Grid Through Multi-Agent System

The solar and wind renewable energy is developing very rapidly to fulfill the energy gap. This specific increasing share of renewable energy is a reaction to the ecological trepidations to conciliate economics with security due to the new challenges in power system supply. In solar and wind renewable energy, the only partially predictable is the output with very low controllability which creates unit commitment problems in thermal units. In this research paper, a different linear formulation via mixed integer is presented that only requires “binary variables” and restraints concerning earlier stated models. The framework of this model allows precisely the costs of time-dependent startup & intertemporal limitations, for example, minimum up & down times and a ramping limit. To solve the unit commitment problem efficiently, a commercially available linear programming of mixed-integer is applied for sizeable practical scale. The results of the simulation are shown in conclusions.
