Evolution Mechanism of Non-metallic Inclusions in Al-Killed Alloyed Steel during Secondary Refining Process

TL;DR: In this article, the evolution mechanism of inclusions in Al-killed alloyed steel during secondary refining process was studied by industrial experiments and thermodynamic calculations, and it was found that during the tapping process, Al-O deoxidization reaction is very close to equilibrium with the formation of many Al2O3 clusters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fluid flow and mixing phenomena in the ladle stirred by argon through multi-tuyere

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the flow pattern and mixing phenomena in argon-stirred ladles with six types of tuyere arrangement and found that tuyeres have a great effect on the flow patterns and mixing in the ladle, a placement of single tuyère at off-centric position gave the shortest mixing time whereas double tuyemeres opposite placed at half radii was the best arrangement considering the aspects of blowing, mixing, inclusion flotation and splashing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical Simulation of Gas and Liquid Two-Phase Flow in Gas-Stirred Systems Based on Euler–Euler Approach

TL;DR: Based on the Euler-Euler approach, a mathematical model is established to describe gas and liquid two-phase flow in the gas-stirred system for steelmaking, and the influences of the interphase force including turbulent dispersion force, drag force, and lift force are investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical Simulation of Desulfurization Behavior in Gas-Stirred Systems Based on Computation Fluid Dynamics–Simultaneous Reaction Model (CFD–SRM) Coupled Model

TL;DR: In this article, a computation fluid dynamics-simultaneous reaction model (CFD-SRM) coupled model has been proposed to describe the desulfurization behavior in a gas-stirred ladle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical Simulation of Solidification Structure of High Carbon Steel in Continuous Casting Using Cellular Automaton Method

TL;DR: In this paper, a combined cellular automaton-finite difference (CA-FD) model was developed to simulate solute diffusion controlled solidification in continuous steel casting, and the effect of the fragmentation of dendrites due to fluid flow induced by EMS in mould on nuclei was taken into consideration by increasing the grain density.
