Journal ArticleDOI
Downregulation of microRNA-29c is associated with hypermethylation of tumor-related genes and disease outcome in cutaneous melanoma.
Tung Nguyen,Christine Kuo,Michael B. Nicholl,Myung-Shin Sim,Roderick R. Turner,Donald L. Morton,Dave S.B. Hoon +6 more
TL;DR: Both miR-29c and DNMT3B have significant roles in melanoma progression, and may be useful epigenetic biomarkers for disease outcome, as demonstrated by multivariate analysis of AJCC stage III melanoma patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resveratrol enhances radiation sensitivity in prostate cancer by inhibiting cell proliferation and promoting cell senescence and apoptosis.
TL;DR: The results show the addition of RSV to XRT (XRT/RSV) synergistically enhanced XRT‐induced apoptosis and inhibition of PC‐3 proliferation, and highlight the potential ofRSV as a radiation sensitizer for PCA treatment and warrant further investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age-related lymphatic dysfunction in melanoma patients.
W. Charles Conway,Mark B. Faries,Michael B. Nicholl,Alicia M. Terando,Edwin C. Glass,Myung-Shin Sim,Donald L. Morton +6 more
TL;DR: Lymphatic function, as assessed by radiocolloid transit to and uptake within the SN, declines with age, and knowledge of this may help clarify findings of reduced nodal positivity and increased in-transit disease in this population of patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sirtuin 1 in malignant transformation: friend or foe?
Yujiang Fang,Michael B. Nicholl +1 more
TL;DR: The role of SIRT1 in tumorigenesis is poorly understood and more research is necessary to elucidate its function in the malignant process, with a focus on the potential mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Choledochal cysts in western adults: Complexities compared to children
Michael B. Nicholl,Henry A. Pitt,Patrick Wolf,Janice Cooney,Munci Kalayoglu,Joel Shilyansky,Layton F. Rikkers +6 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that surgery in Western adults with choledochal cysts is frequently complicated and should be performed by specialists in complex biliary surgery.
