Journal ArticleDOI

Small-GTPase-Associated Signaling by the Guanine Nucleotide Exchange Factors CpDock180 and CpCdc24, the GTPase Effector CpSte20, and the Scaffold Protein CpBem1 in Claviceps purpurea

TL;DR: Functional characterizations suggest a role of CpCdc24 mainly in polarity, whereas CpDock180 is involved in stress tolerance mechanisms, and these findings indicate the dynamic formation of small GTPase complexes and improve the model for G TPase-associated signaling in C. purpurea.
Book ChapterDOI

Mating-Type Genes in Heterobasidiomycetes

TL;DR: This chapter will mainly focus on the mating systems of the Usti-laginales, because only for this order have detailed genetic studies been performed that were recently extended by a molecular analysis of the matingtype genes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Control of mating and development in Ustilago maydis.

TL;DR: The function of these loci in controlling the cell fusion step, the switch from yeast-like to filamentous growth and subsequent pathogenic development and the role of pheromones and pherOMone signaling in these processes are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elucidation of substrate specificities of decorating enzymes involved in mannosylerythritol lipid production by cross-species complementation.

TL;DR: It is shown that the plant pathogenic fungus Ustilago hordei secretes these glycolipids under nitrogen starvation conditions and it is determined that the acyltransferase Mac1 acylates the mannosylerythritol moiety at position C2 while Mac2 acylate C3.
