Journal ArticleDOI

Solution synthesis of calcium, strontium and barium metallocenes

TL;DR: In this article, the reaction of a cyclopentadienide with a metal halide was used to obtain the THF-soluble complexes (C5H5)2Ca(THF)2 and (Me5C5) 2M(THFs)2 (M = Ca, Sr, Ba).
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation of activated calcium, strontium, and barium powders by reduction of alkaline earth di-iodides

TL;DR: In this paper, heavy alkaline earth (Ca, Sr, Ba) di-iodides with metallic potassium in tetrahydrofuran precipitates finely divided metal powders which react rapidly with triphenylmethyl chloride, Me5C5H, fluorinated acetylacetones, and phenols to generate the corresponding alkyl metal halides, metallocenes, acetylacetonates, and aryl oxides.
