Invertebrate traits for the biomonitoring of large European rivers: an initial assessment of alternative metrics

TL;DR: It is indicated that genus or perhaps family identifications are sufficient for large-river biomonitoring using invertebrate traits, although raw abundances could provide a better discrimination of low levels of human impact, presence–absence data is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of invertebrate traits for the biomonitoring of European large rivers: the effects of sampling effort on genus richness and functional diversity

TL;DR: Functional diversity had greater accuracy with less sampling effort and the precision of the estimates was higher than richness both across sampling occasions and sampling reaches, further arguments towards conducting research on the design of a biomonitoring tool based on biological traits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sandy rivers: a review on general ecohydrological patterns of benthic invertebrate assemblages across continents

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of faunal assemblages and habitat structures of the Paraguay-Parana River system (Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina), from European (Rhine, Loire) River systems, and data from the literature, identifies general patterns which appear to have a global character.
Journal ArticleDOI

Contribution à la connaissance du fonctionnement des grands fleuves. Structure et dynamique des peuplements macrobenthiques de la Loire. Analyse des facteurs de micro-distribution - Analyse des facteurs de micro-distribution des invertébrés benthiques en Loire

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a comparative analysis of facteurs de micro-distribution observed on two stations ligeriennes: Brehemont and La Charite-sur-Loire.
