Journal ArticleDOI
Age at onset of narcolepsy in two large populations of patients in France and Quebec
Yves Dauvilliers,Jacques Montplaisir,Nicolas Molinari,Bertrand Carlander,B. Ondzé,A Besset,Michel Billiard +6 more
TL;DR: Age at onset clearly differentiates patients with a positive family history of narcolepsy (early onset) from those without a family history, and data suggest that age at onset is genetically determined.
Journal ArticleDOI
CSF hypocretin-1 levels in narcolepsy, Kleine-Levin syndrome, and other hypersomnias and neurological conditions
Yves Dauvilliers,Christian R. Baumann,Bertrand Carlander,Matthias Bischof,T Blatter,Michel Lecendreux,Friedrich E. Maly,A Besset,Jacques Touchon,Michel Billiard,Mehdi Tafti,Claudio L. Bassetti +11 more
TL;DR: Hypocretin ligand deficiency appears not to be the major cause for other hypersomnias, with a possible continuum in the pathophysiology of narcolepsy without cataplexy and idiopathic hypersomnia, however, partial hypocretin lesions without low CSF hypoc retin-1 consequences cannot be definitely excluded in those disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kleine-Levin syndrome An autoimmune hypothesis based on clinical and genetic analyses
Yves Dauvilliers,Geert Mayer,Michel Lecendreux,Elisabeth Neidhart,Rosa Peraita-Adrados,Karel Sonka,Michel Billiard,Mehdi Tafti +7 more
TL;DR: Findings, together with the young age at onset, the recurrence of symptoms, and the frequent infectious precipitating factors, suggest an autoimmune etiology for Kleine-Levin syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sleep architecture, slow wave activity, and sleep spindles in adult patients with sleepwalking and sleep terrors
TL;DR: An abnormal deep sleep associated with a high SWS fragmentation might be responsible for the occurrence of SW or ST episodes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modafinil : a double-blind multicentric study
TL;DR: An overall benefit was noted by physicians as well as by patients, and MWT disclosed a positive effect of modafinil on excessive daytime sleepiness.
