Journal ArticleDOI
Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) Versus Original and PErFecTED Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) Due to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): Preliminary Results of a Single Center, Prospective, Urodynamic-Controlled Analysis
Francisco Cesar Carnevale,Alexandre Iscaife,Eduardo Muracca Yoshinaga,Airton Mota Moreira,Alberto A. Antunes,Miguel Srougi +5 more
TL;DR: TURP and PErFecTED PAE yield similar symptom improvement, but TURP is associated with both better urodynamic results and more adverse events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prostatic artery embolization as a primary treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia: preliminary results in two patients
Francisco Cesar Carnevale,Alberto A. Antunes,Joaquim Mauricio da Motta Leal Filho,Luciana Mendes de Oliveira Cerri,Ronaldo Hueb Baroni,Antonio Sergio Zafred Marcelino,Geraldo de Campos Freire,Airton Mota Moreira,Miguel Srougi,Giovanni Guido Cerri +9 more
TL;DR: Early results for two patients with acute urinary retention due to BPH, successfully treated by prostate artery embolization (PAE), show a promising potential alternative for treatment with PAE.
Journal ArticleDOI
Salvage radical prostatectomy for radiation-recurrent prostate cancer: a multi-institutional collaboration.
Daher C. Chade,Daher C. Chade,Shahrokh F. Shariat,Shahrokh F. Shariat,Angel M. Cronin,Caroline O. S. Savage,R. Jeffrey Karnes,Michael L. Blute,Alberto Briganti,Francesco Montorsi,Henk G. van der Poel,Hendrik Van Poppel,Steven Joniau,Guilherme Godoy,Antonio Hurtado-Coll,Martin E. Gleave,Marcos F. Dall'Oglio,Miguel Srougi,Peter T. Scardino,Peter T. Scardino,James A. Eastham,James A. Eastham +21 more
TL;DR: In a select group of patients who underwent SRP for radiation-recurrent PCa, freedom from clinical metastasis was observed in >75% of patients 10 yr after surgery, and patients with lower pre-SRP PSA levels and lower postradiation prostate biopsy Gleason score have the highest probability of cure from SRP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age related increase of reactive oxygen species in neat semen in healthy fertile men
Marcello Cocuzza,Marcello Cocuzza,Kelly S. Athayde,Kelly S. Athayde,Ashok Agarwal,Rakesh Sharma,Rodrigo Pagani,Antonio Marmo Lucon,Miguel Srougi,Jorge Hallak +9 more
TL;DR: Reactive oxygen species levels are significant higher in seminal ejaculates of healthy fertile men older than 40 years, suggesting that delayed fatherhood may reduce the chances of pregnancy as men become progressively less fertile with age.
Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective study evaluating the efficacy of the artificial sphincter AMS 800 for the treatment of postradical prostatectomy urinary incontinence and the correlation between preoperative urodynamic and surgical outcomes
TL;DR: The AMS 800 offers good long-term continence to most PRPUI patients and except by a tendency of worse results in patients with reduced bladder compliance (RBC), other urodynamic parameters did not correlate with a worse surgical outcome.
