Journal ArticleDOI
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Antibiotic Use
Joseph Schulman,Robert Dimand,Henry C. Lee,Grace Villarin Dueñas,Mihoko V. Bennett,Jeffrey B. Gould +5 more
TL;DR: Forty-fold variation in NICU antibiotic prescribing practice across 127 NICUs with similar burdens of proven infection, NEC, surgical volume, and mortality indicates that a considerable portion of antibiotic use lacks clear warrant; in some NICUs, antibiotics are overused.
Journal ArticleDOI
Racial/Ethnic Disparity in NICU Quality of Care Delivery
Jochen Profit,Jeffrey B. Gould,Mihoko V. Bennett,Benjamin A. Goldstein,David Draper,Ciaran S. Phibbs,Ciaran S. Phibbs,Henry C. Lee +7 more
TL;DR: Significant racial and/or ethnic variation in quality of care exists between and within NICUs, and providing feedback of disparity scores to NICUs could serve as an important starting point for promoting improvement and reducing disparities.
Journal ArticleDOI
The rise and decline of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug-associated gastropathy in rheumatoid arthritis.
James F. Fries,Kirsten Naumann Murtagh,Mihoko V. Bennett,Ernesto Zatarain,Bharathi Lingala,Bonnie Bruce +5 more
TL;DR: The risk of serious NSAID gastropathy has declined by 67% in these cohorts since 1992, and it is estimated that 24% of this decline was the result of lower doses of NSAIDs, while 18% was associated with the use of proton-pump inhibitors and 14% with theUse of less toxic NSAIDs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Paracrine Effects of the Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Cardiac Myocytes Salvage the Injured Myocardium
Atsushi Tachibana,Michelle R. Santoso,Morteza Mahmoudi,Praveen K. Shukla,Lei Wang,Mihoko V. Bennett,Andrew B. Goldstone,Mouer Wang,Masahiro Fukushi,Antje D. Ebert,Y. Joseph Woo,Eric Rulifson,Phillip C. Yang +12 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates that the cardiac phenotype of hCMs and iCMs salvages the injured myocardium effectively than undifferentiated stem cells through their differential paracrine effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative tissue characterization of infarct core and border zone in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy by magnetic resonance is associated with future cardiovascular events.
Shahriar Heidary,Harendra Patel,Jaehoon Chung,Hajime Yokota,Sandeep N. Gupta,Mihoko V. Bennett,Chandra K. Katikireddy,Patricia K. Nguyen,John M. Pauly,Masahiro Terashima,Michael V. McConnell,Phillip C. Yang +11 more
TL;DR: Quantification of core and border zones and their percentages of myocardium through CMR is associated with future CVE and might assist in the management of patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy and some of these patients with ICM were considered for revascularization.
