Journal Article

Probable reinfection with hepatitis C virus in a chronic hepatitis C patient with a sustained response to combination therapy.

TL;DR: Analysis of the core gene sequences showed a 95% homology between the HCV strains isolated before antiviral treatment and during the hepatitis flare in this patient, indicating the lack of protective immunity against reinfection with HCV in patients with chronic hepatitis C, even after successful clearance of the virus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamics of hepatitis B e antigen index ratio correlate with treatment response in chronic hepatitis B patients.

TL;DR: Whether early dynamics of HBeAg index ratio could predict therapeutic endpoint of H beAg seroconversion in patients receiving lamivudine remains unclear and thus deserves investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Successful Treatment of Hepatitis B Virus Infection With Lamivudine After Heart Transplantation

TL;DR: With successful treatment of HBV infection in HT, it is not necessary to excludeHBV infection patients from HT, and all the survivors have normal ALT and undetectable HBV-DNA after lamivudine treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Absence of extensive genetic heterogeneity of hepatitis C virus in antibody-negative chronic hepatitis C.

TL;DR: It is suggested that absence of antibodies against both capsid and nonstructural peptides in HCV carriers is not caused by genetic heterogeneity of the viral epitopes.
