Pegylated Interferon Alfa-2a Monotherapy for Hemodialysis Patients with Acute Hepatitis C
Chen-Hua Liu,Cheng-Chao Liang,Chun-Jen Liu,Jou-Wei Lin,Shih-I Chen,Peir-Haur Hung,Hung-Bin Tsai,Ming-Yang Lai,Pei-Jer Chen,Ding-Shinn Chen,Jia-Horng Kao +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that patients without spontaneous clearance of HCV by week 16 should receive therapy and pegylated IFN alfa-2a monotherapy is safe and efficacious for hemodialysis patients with acute hepatitis C.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of metabolic syndrome, viral genotype and antiviral therapy on superimposed fatty liver disease in chronic hepatitis C.
Chun-Jen Liu,Yung-Ming Jeng,Pei-Jer Chen,Ming-Yang Lai,Hung-Chih Yang,Wen-Ling Huang,Jia-Horng Kao,Ding-Shinn Chen +7 more
TL;DR: Hematic steatosis in Taiwanese patients with chronic hepatitis C was associated with features of the metabolic syndrome, but did not correlate with HCV genotype, advanced fibrosis or the response to antiviral therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of lipid profiles with hepatitis C viral load in chronic hepatitis C patients with genotype 1 or 2 infection.
Ching-Sheng Hsu,Chen-Hua Liu,Chun-Jen Liu,Chia-Chi Wang,Chi-Ling Chen,Ming-Yang Lai,Pei-Jer Chen,Ding-Shinn Chen,Jia-Horng Kao +8 more
TL;DR: A proportional relationship is found between serum lipid profiles and hepatitis C viral load in patients with genotype 2 infection; however, whether manipulation of lipid profiles would improve the response to current anti-HCV therapy is to be determined in further studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Esophageal Varices: Noninvasive Diagnosis with Duplex Doppler US in Patients with Compensated Cirrhosis
Chen-Hua Liu,Shih-Jer Hsu,Cheng-Chao Liang,Feng-Chiao Tsai,Jou-Wei Lin,Chun-Jen Liu,Pei-Ming Yang,Ming-Yang Lai,Pei-Jer Chen,Jun-Herng Chen,Jia-Horng Kao,Ding-Shinn Chen +11 more
TL;DR: SPI can serve as a useful noninvasive index to predict the presence or absence of esophageal varices in patients with compensated cirrhosis by using endoscopy as the reference standard.
Journal ArticleDOI
GB virus-C/hepatitis G virus infection in prostitutes: possible role of sexual transmission.
TL;DR: It is suggested that like HCV, sexual transmission of GBV‐C/HGV occurs and the risk increased with prolonged duration of exposure and the transmission efficiency appears to be similar.
