Design and Fabrication of a High-Strength Hydrogel with Ideally Homogeneous Network Structure from Tetrahedron-like Macromonomers
Takamasa Sakai,Takuro Matsunaga,Yuji Yamamoto,Chika Ito,Ryo Yoshida,Shigeki Suzuki,Nobuo Sasaki,Mitsuhiro Shibayama,Ung-il Chung +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a tetra-PEG gel was designed by combining two symmetrical tetrahedron-like macromonomers of the same size, which had a homogeneous structure and resultant high mechanical strength comparable to that of native articular cartilage.
Book ChapterDOI
Volume phase transition and related phenomena of polymer gels
TL;DR: A review of the recent advances in studies of the volume phase transition and critical phenomena of polymer gels mostly carried out in our group from 1973 to the present can be found in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial inhomogeneity and dynamic fluctuations of polymer gels
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reviewed the recent developments of the structure investigation of polymer gels from both experimental and theoretical points of view, and showed that DLS becomes a powerful tool to distinguish the two contributions if it is coupled with ensemble averaging.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular basis of the shish-kebab morphology in polymer crystallization
Shuichi Kimata,Takashi Sakurai,Takashi Sakurai,Yoshinobu Nozue,Yoshinobu Nozue,Tatsuya Kasahara,Tatsuya Kasahara,Noboru Yamaguchi,Noboru Yamaguchi,Takeshi Karino,Takeshi Karino,Mitsuhiro Shibayama,Mitsuhiro Shibayama,Julia A. Kornfield,Julia A. Kornfield +14 more
TL;DR: A critical examination of this widely held view, using deuterium labeling to distinguish different chain lengths within an overall distribution, showed that long chains are not overrepresented in the shish relative to their concentration in the material as a whole.
Journal ArticleDOI
Small angle neutron scattering study on poly(N‐isopropyl acrylamide) gels near their volume‐phase transition temperature
TL;DR: In this paper, small angle neutron scattering experiments were conducted on Nisopropyl acrylamide (NIPA) gels in D2O and on the corresponding NIPA solutions.
