Influence of mass and damping ratios on VIVs of a cylinder with a downstream counterpart in cruciform arrangement
TL;DR: In this article, experiments on the three types of VIVs are carried out using a water tunnel to investigate influences of the mass ratio MR and the damping ratio ζ on the oscillation response.
Journal ArticleDOI
VIVs of a circular cylinder with a downstream strip-plate in cruciform arrangement
TL;DR: In this paper, a strip plate with a width comparable in magnitude with the cylinder diameter was used to suppress the Karman-vortex induced vibration of a circular cylinder. But the effect of the plate's width on the vibration was not analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prospect of Micro Power Generation Utilizing VIV in Small Stream Based on Verification Experiments of Power Generation in Water Tunnel
Journal ArticleDOI
Universality of Longitudinal Vortices Shedding from a Cruciform Two Circular Cylinder System in Uniform Flow
TL;DR: In this paper, two types of longitudinal vortices shed periodically from a cruciform two identical circular cylinder system in uniform flow and were confirmed to shed periodically for small size systems in water flow in spite of large difference in the experimental conditions.
Book ChapterDOI
Influence of Cross-Sectional Configuration on Karman Vortex Excitation
TL;DR: In this paper, three cylindrical bodies with different cross sectional configurations, i.e., a circular, semi-circular and triangular cylinder, are used as the test cylinders, in order to investigate the influence of movement of separation point on the Karman vortex excitation.
