Using SCOR model to gain competitive advantage: A Literature review

In this paper, using supply chain operational reference, the reliability evaluation of available relationships in supply chain is investigated. For this purpose, in the first step, the chain under investigation is divided into several stages including first and second suppliers, initial and final customers, and the producing company. Based on the formed relationships between these stages, the supply chain system is then broken down into different subsystem parts. The formed relationships between the stages are based on the transportation of the orders between stages. Paying attention to the system elements' location, which can be in one of the five forms of series namely parallel, series/parallel, parallel/series, or their combinations, we determine the structure of relationships in the divided subsystems. According to reliability evaluation scales on the three levels of supply chain, the reliability of each chain is then calculated. Finally, using the formulas of calculating the reliability in combined systems, the reliability of each system and ultimately the whole system is investigated.

10.2 Supply Chain Operations Reference-Modell

In global competitive atmosphere, foundry industries are needed to perform efficiently with minimum percentage of rejections there by reducing cost of manufacturing. Foundries are using state of art processes with the involvement of experienced and knowledgeable people but the experience and knowledge needs to be transformed for the growth of the industries. Some foundries are working in a trial and error mode and get their work done. Many foundries have very less control on the rejections since they are in critical need of meeting production targets and they ignore the rejections and recover the castings. They need to have an efficient quality control aspiring for defects free castings with minimum production cost. Strategic decision makers need extensive models to guide them for efficient decision making that increases their profitability of the entire chain. The noval idea of this research is to investigate the various defects of cast iron foundry and suggest remedies for the defects in a day to day activity and propose a supply chain model to present the necessity of quality in a medium scale industry of cast iron foundry under different delay conditions, rejection rates and also various other factors. The results of the proposed model have been discussed and confirmed based on the original results of an industry. This research is also inspects the relationship between supply chain processes and quality as a key role in supply chain management.

A Proposed Supply Chain Model for Productivity Enhancement in Medium Scale Foundry Industries

Pharmaceutical industry involves highly specialized business processes where strong research and development focus along with market differentiation and localization are the deciders of success. This has led to evolution of segments and complexities in supply chain. This paper aims to focus on segmental differences in supply chain performance of Indian Pharmaceutical firms.,This paper measures supply chain performance of select segmental players of the pharmaceutical industry using financial metrics and supply chain operations reference (SCOR) key performance indicators through a five-year timeline. The best performance results are compared across the segments to identify unique performance features, if any. The sample results are validated through hypothesis testing methodology.,This paper has evidenced that the innovators segment is performing better in cash-to-cash cycle time and supply chain working capital productivity, whereas generics segment is doing better in distribution cost efficiency and total cost to serve aspects.,The paper is based on historical financial data of firms and measures the firm focused supply chain performance. The results may not be generalized in a global context but serve as a motivator for other researchers to take similar studies. The paper may further be analyzed with primary data of the firms to understand the segmental difference in customer focus supply chain performance measures.,This paper has brought out important segmental supply chain performance features of the Indian pharmaceutical firms and identified segment-specific problems by integrating SCOR KPIs and financial metrics.,This paper has integrated both SCOR KPIs and financial metrics to provide unique insights on segmental differences in the performance behavior of pharmaceutical supply chain.

Segmental differences in pharmaceutical industry and its impact on supply chain performance

Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model is developed and maintained by the Supply Chain Council (SCC). The model is a reference model which can be used to map, benchmark and improve the supply chain operations. SCOR model provides companies with a basic process modeling tool, an extensive benchmark database and defines a set of supply chain metrics. Mobarakeh Steel Company (located in Isfahan, Iran) initiated the project of studying and analyzing its supply chain performance based on the SCOR model. This paper explains the steps and the results of the project. Interviews with the managers and considering the documents on the four major subjects of planning, logistics, information flow and relationships in the supply chain and comparing the current conditions of the supply chain with SCOR best practices, some improvement projects were proposed to improve the supply chain performance. The projects were then prioritized based on the supply chain strategy and the predecessor relationships.
