Journal ArticleDOI
Potent α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibitory activities of standardized 50% ethanolic extracts and sinensetin from Orthosiphon stamineus Benth as anti-diabetic mechanism.
Elsnoussi Ali Hussin Mohamed,Mohammad Jamshed Ahmad Siddiqui,Lee Fung Ang,Amirin Sadikun,Sue Hay Chan,Soo Choon Tan,Mohd Zaini Asmawi,Mun Fei Yam +7 more
TL;DR: Alpha-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibition could the mechanisms through which the 50% ethanolic extract of O. stamineus and sinensetin exert their antidiabetic activity, indicating that it could have potential use in the management of non-insulin-dependent diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toxicology evaluation of standardized methanol extract of Gynura procumbens
Rosidah,Mun Fei Yam,Mun Fei Yam,Amirin Sadikun,Mariam Ahmad,Gabriel Akyirem Akowuah,Mohd Zaini Asmawi +6 more
TL;DR: Administration of the methanol extract from Gynura procumbens leaves at 1000-5000 mg/kg did not produce mortality or significant changes in the general behaviour, body weight, or organ gross appearance of rats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-inflammatory activities of Emblica officinalis Gaertn leaf extracts.
TL;DR: The water fraction of the methanol extract inhibited migration of human PMNs in relatively low concentrations, suggesting that the mechanism of the anti‐inflammatory action found in the rat paw model does not involve inhibition of the synthesis of the measured lipid mediators.
Journal ArticleDOI
Studies on diuretic and hypouricemic effects of Orthosiphon stamineus methanol extracts in rats.
TL;DR: Evidence is provided of the high tendency of methanol:water (1:1) extract of Orthosiphon stamineus towards diuretic and hypouricemic effects in rats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antioxidant potential of Gynura procumbens
TL;DR: The leaves of Gynura procumbens (Merr.) Compositae, commonly called "sambung nyawa" in Malaysia, are often eaten raw with rice as discussed by the authors.
