There is lot of uncertainty attached to petroleum supply and the entire world is searching for alternatives. Natural resources are explored in this context and materials derived from bioresources are being produced. For this reason, materials derived from natural resources have become increasingly popular over the last two decades. This is also highlighted as non-renewable resources are getting depleted very rapidly. Researchers from academia and industry are very keen to develop valuable products from natural resources. Bio materials are gaining importance and technologies are emerging to handle these biomaterials which are more sensitive than conventional technologies. This chapter narrates the recent development of biomaterials, biofibers, biopolymers and biocomposites and the electrospinning process most widely used in biomaterials. The performances of biomaterials and biocomposites are reviewed because they have a wide range of applications and good future prospects in new generation materials and processes.
