The effects of closure of cracks on the dynamics of a cracked cantilever beam
Murat Kisa,J.A. Brandon +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a finite element scheme for computing the eigensystem for a cracked beam for different degrees of closure was developed, where the finite element method, the component mode synthesis method and the linear elastic fracture mechanics theory were integrated for modelling of the cracked structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Free vibration analysis of cracked beams by a combination of finite elements and component mode synthesis methods
TL;DR: In this paper, the vibrational characteristics of a cracked Timoshenko beam are analyzed using the finite element method and component mode synthesis, where the beam is divided into two components related by a flexibility matrix which incorporates the interaction forces.
Journal ArticleDOI
Free vibration analysis of a cantilever composite beam with multiple cracks
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of cracks on the dynamical characteristics of a cantilever composite beam, made of graphite fibre-reinforced polyamide, were investigated. And the results of the study lead to conclusions that, presented method is adequate for the vibration analysis of cracked cantileve composite beams, and by using the drop in the natural frequencies and the change in the mode shapes, the presence and nature of cracks in a structure can be detected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Free vibration analysis of uniform and stepped cracked beams with circular cross sections
Murat Kisa,M. Arif Gürel +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a novel numerical technique applicable to analyze the free vibration analysis of uniform and stepped cracked beams with circular cross-section, in which the finite element and component mode synthesis methods are used together, the beam is detached into parts from the crack section.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modal analysis of multi-cracked beams with circular cross section
Murat Kisa,M. Arif Gürel +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a numerical model that combines the finite element and component mode synthesis methods for the modal analysis of beams with circular cross section and containing multiple non-propagating open cracks.
