Abstract: Two new dioxouranium(VI) complexes have been synthesued horn two vicdiome compounds of calix[4]arene (L1H and L2H, prepared fiom 28-[(4-ammobenzyl)oxy]-25,26,27-tnbenzoyloxycaluc[4]arene and amphi-chloroglyome or amphi-dichloroglyoxlme) and dioxouranium(VI) ion The complexes, which have been charactenzed on the bass of elemental analyses molar conductances, and mfiared and demonic spectral studies, have the general formulas [UO2(L1)2 2H2O].2THF and [UO2(L2)2.2H2O]3THF The complexes have a metal-ligand rabo of 1:2 and U(VI) has the coordinanon number of eight in both complexes

Abstract: This article describes the synthesis of a Schiff base of p-terf-butylcalix[4]arene [H2L] in which the Schiff base unit bridges two opposite hydroxy groups of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene. The synthesis of H2L has been achieved by refluxing p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene 1,3-diacetonyl (1) with 1,2-diaminoethane in ethanol. Metal-ligand (I : 1) complexes of this Schiff base with Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) have been prepared fiom the corresponding metal nitrates. The complexes have been characterized on the basis of elemental analyses and spectral data. The complexing abilities of H2L toward alkali [e. g. Li(I), Na(I), and K(I)] and transition metals [Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II)] have been determined by extraction studies.
