Journal ArticleDOI
Helical Polyacetylene Synthesized with a Chiral Nematic Reaction Field
TL;DR: The high electrical conductivities of approximately 1500 to 1800 siemens per centimeter after iodine doping and the chiral helicity of these films may be exploited in electromagnetic and optical applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Highly twisted helical polyacetylene with morphology free from the bundle of fibrils synthesized in chiral nematic liquid crystal reaction field.
TL;DR: Novel axially chiral binaphthyl derivatives with highly twisting powers are synthesized by substituting phenylcyclohexyl (PCH) mesogenic moieties into 2, 2' positions or 2,2',6,6' positions of binaphTHyl rings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of Helical Polyacetylene in Chiral Nematic Liquid Crystals Using Crown Ether Type Binaphthyl Derivatives as Chiral Dopants
TL;DR: A series of crown ether type binaphthyl derivatives were synthesized and used as chiral dopants to induce chiral nematic (N*) liquid crystals (LCs) and it was found that the twisting powers of the CEBDs increased with decreasing ring size of the crown ether.
Journal ArticleDOI
Helical carbon and graphitic films prepared from iodine-doped helical polyacetylene film using morphology-retaining carbonization.
Mutsumasa Kyotani,Satoshi Matsushita,Takuro Nagai,Yoshio Matsui,Masaki Shimomura,Akira Kaito,Kazuo Akagi +6 more
TL;DR: Novel preparation of the helical carbon nanofibril-fabricated thin film from the iodine-doped filmy helical polyacetylene through a carbonization process to afford carbon and graphitic films completely preserving morphologies and even helical nan ofibril structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of annealing on the structure formation in a thermotropic liquid crystalline copolyester
TL;DR: The lateral packing of molecular chains in a copolymer of p-hydroxybenzoic acid (HBA) and HNA was shown to be transformed from hexagonal packing to an orthorhombic one in the course of annealing above 230 o C as mentioned in this paper.
