Combustion and emission characteristics of DME as an alternative fuel for compression ignition engines with a high pressure injection system

TL;DR: In this article, the injection characteristics of DME fuel as an alternative fuel for compression ignition engines were analyzed by applying a nozzle flow model that accounted for the effect of cavitation, and the results showed that the actual injection duration was longer than that of diesel fuel because the injection started faster and ended with more delay.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of a narrow fuel spray angle and a dual injection configuration on the improvement of exhaust emissions in a HCCI diesel engine

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of narrow fuel spray angle injection and dual injection strategy on the exhaust emissions of a common-rail diesel engine was investigated, and the results showed that a dual injection was effective to reduce the NOx emissions while it suppress the deterioration of the combustion efficiency caused by the HCCI combustion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental Investigation of Spray and Combustion Characteristics of Dimethyl Ether in a Common-Rail Diesel Engine

TL;DR: In this article, the spray behavior of DME was analyzed in terms of injection rate, spray development, and spray tip penetration, which were measured by an injection rate meter and a high-pressure spray chamber equipped with a spray visualization system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Premixed Gasoline Fuel on the Combustion Characteristics of Compression Ignition Engine

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the premixed ratio and supply condition of premixed fuel on the combustion and emission characteristics of a partial homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine has been investigated experimentally and numerically.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of Split Injection Strategy on the Exhaust Emissions and Soot Particulates from a Compression Ignition Engine Fueled with Neat Biodiesel

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of split injection on exhaust emissions, soot particulates, and engine performance was investigated using an electrically controlled direct-injection diesel engine fueled with neat biodiesel derived from soybean.
