Temperature programmed field desorption of protonated hydrogen from rhodium and tungsten

Energy deficits have been measured for ions in the field desorption mass spectra of saccharides. Evidence is presented to show that monosaccharides, disaccharides and trisaccharides are volatile compounds, under the conditions of field desorption. It is proposed that the electric field plays an essential role in the desorption of [M+H]+ ions.
