How accurate are absolute rutherford backscattering yields

TL;DR: In this article, high precision backscattering assemblies for absolute yield measurements have been built and calibrated to ± 1% on three different MeV ion accelerators, and the Bi-content in a set of Bi-implanted silicon standards (from the recent Karlsruhe ‘round-robin’ project) has been accurately measured in each of these assemblies: the resulting value is 477(± 0.07) × 1015 Bi atoms/cm2.

Energy loss of He ions in solidified gases

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used backscattering of 4 He ions from a low temperature substrate on which a thin layer of gas has been condensed to check for "solid state" effects on energy loss and found that the maximum energy loss occurs at somewhat higher energy in the solid phase and in the energy region below 1 MeV.
