GRP-HEFT: A Budget-Constrained Resource Provisioning Scheme for Workflow Scheduling in IaaS Clouds

TL;DR: A novel resource provisioning mechanism and a workflow scheduling algorithm, named Greedy Resource Provisioning and modified HEFT (GRP-HEFT), for minimizing the makespan of a given workflow subject to a budget constraint for the hourly-based cost model of modern IaaS clouds.
Journal ArticleDOI

EPBLA: energy-efficient consolidation of virtual machines using learning automata in cloud data centers

TL;DR: Simulation results showed the efficiency of EPBLA in terms of reduction of energy consumption by 20% and 30% compared with PBLA and Firefly, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

SYNCOP: An evolutionary multi-objective placement of SDN controllers for optimizing cost and network performance in WSNs

TL;DR: The Cuckoo optimization algorithm, a nature-inspired population-based meta-heuristic algorithm to solve the optimization problem of SDN controllers, seeks to find the global optimum by imitating brood parasitism of some cuckoo species.

A Reliability Aware Algorithm for Workflow Scheduling on Cloud Spot Instances Using Artificial Neural Network

TL;DR: In this paper, an Artificial Neural Network algorithm (ANN) is used to define a failure prediction module for the cloud spot instances and a workflow scheduling algorithm, named Reliability Aware and modified HEFT (Heterogeneous Earliest Finish Time), is introduced to minimize the makespan of a given workflow subject to a specified reliability of the application.
