We redescribe the only previously known species of Myrsidea from bulbuls, M. pycnonoti Eichler. Sixteen new species are described; they and their type hosts are: M. phillipsi ex Pycnonotus goiavier goiavier (Scopoli), M. gieferi ex P. goiavier suluensis Mearns, M. kulpai ex P. flavescens Blyth, M. finlaysoni ex P. finlaysoni Strickland, M. kathleenae ex P. cafer (L.), M. warwicki ex Ixos philippinus (J. R. Forster), M. mcclurei ex Microscelis amaurotis (Temminck), M. zeylanici ex P. zeylanicus (Gmelin), M. plumosi ex P. plumosus Blyth, M. eutiloti ex P. eutilotus (Jardine and Selby), M. adamsae ex P. urostictus (Salvadori), M. ochracei ex Criniger ochraceus F. Moore, M. borbonici ex Hypsipetes borbonicus (J. R. Forster), M. johnsoni ex P. atriceps (Temminck), M. palmai ex C. ochraceus, and M. claytoni ex P. eutilotus. A key is provided for the identification of these 17 species.

A new species

Flora of Turkey and the East Aegean Islands.

An updated inventory of the vascular flora alien to Italy, providing details on the occurrence at regional level, is presented. The checklist includes 1597 species, subspecies, and hybrids, distributed in 725 genera and 152 families; 2 taxa are lycophytes, 11 ferns and fern allies, 33 gymnosperms, and 1551 angiosperms. 157 taxa are archaeophytes and 1440 neophytes. The alien taxa currently established in Italy are 791 (570 naturalized and 221 invasive), while 705 taxa are casual aliens, 4 are not assessed, 7 are of unknown regional distribution, 47 have not been confirmed in recent times, 3 are considered extinct or possibly extinct in the country, and 40 are doubtfully occurring in Italy. This checklist allows to establish an up-to-date number (9792) of taxa constituting the whole (native and alien) Italian flora.

Anatomy of the Dicotyledons

In a time where the public is more aware and interested with what they eat, natural additives have been gaining interest both from the food industries and the consumers. Some studies show that consumers prefer food prepared with natural additives rather than chemical ones, due to health reasons. Although quite promising, natural additives still face some drawbacks and limitations as well as conflicting information. In this manuscript, the most important natural additives are overviewed, as well as their use, benefits and risks. The future of these molecules along with new types of additives is also summarized.

Handbook of Essential Oils Science Technology and Applications

In this study, sixty-eight flowering plant species used as medicinal treatment in Catalca (European part of Istanbul) are reported. Among them fifty-eight species are wild and the rest ten species are cultivated plants. The plants in this research are mostly used for treatment of stomach and kidney ailments, cough, diabetes, inflammation and rheumatism. Data presented are based on interviews of local people and materials collected in the area surveyed. Researchers interviewed local people and all the specimens collected together with them were identified and prepared voucher specimens were deposited in the Herbarium of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Istanbul University (ISTE).

An ethnobotanical study in çatalca (european part of istanbul) ii

In this study, medicinal uses and methods of administration of 45 wild plant taxa belonging to 27 families in Yalova are documented. The plant specimens were collected with informants. During the field works all the settlements (58 villages) were visited. The information was recorded and the col ­ lected plants were identified and prepared voucher specimens were kept in the Herbarium of Istanbul University Faculty of Pharmacy (ISTE).

The eighth check-list of the series entitled “Check-list of Additional taxa to the Flora of Turkey” comprises a total of 152 taxa based on the data given in 133 papers published the period between December 2014-December 2016. Additionally taxa which have not been recorded neither in the 11 volumes of the Flora of Turkey nor in the seven previously published supplementary check-lists. With this paper the following are added to the Turkish flora: 127 taxa new to science and 25 taxa new records.
