Slope effect on dynamic p–y backbone curve in dry sand

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluate the slope effect on the dynamic p-y backbone curve, which is a worldwide simplified tool in the seismic design of pile foundations, by fitting peak points of the dynamic P-y loops with a hyperbolic function.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variation in axial load distribution of piles in liquefiable slope by centrifuge test

TL;DR: In this article , the axial pile response under seismic loading was investigated by performing dynamic centrifuge tests on liquefied sand with the slopes of 15° and 27°, and it was found that the liquefaction caused a loss of spin-induced drag load.
Book ChapterDOI

An Experimental Evaluation of Characteristics of Ball Penetration Test in Soft Clay

TL;DR: In this article, the characteristics of ball penetration test (BPT) in soft clay are briefly presented, and the influence of some soil characteristics to cone and ball strength factors and the effectiveness of BPT in recognizing different sublayers or different depositional units in a soil profile are also discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical Simulation of Piles in a Liquefied Slope Using a Modified Soil–Pile Interface Model

TL;DR: In this article , a modified soil-pile interface model was proposed, which linearly decreases the interface friction angle with the increase in the excess pore pressure ratio, and validated by comparing it with the centrifuge test results of Yoo et al. (2023).
