Journal ArticleDOI
High Yields of Hydrogen Production Induced by Meta-Substituted Dichlorophenols Biodegradation from the Green Alga Scenedesmus obliquus
Aikaterini Papazi,Efthimios A. Andronis,Nikolaos E. Ioannidis,Nikolaos Chaniotakis,Kiriakos Kotzabasis +4 more
TL;DR: A combinational biological system where the biodegradation procedure of one meta-substituted dichlorophenol (m-dcp) is the key element for maintaining continuous and high rate H2-production in chloroplasts and mitochondria of the green alga Scenedesmus obliquus is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fast label-free detection of C-reactive protein using broad-band Mach-Zehnder interferometers integrated on silicon chips
A. Psarouli,A. Botsialas,Alexandros Salapatas,Gerasimos Stefanitsis,Dimitra Nikita,Gerhard Jobst,Nikolaos Chaniotakis,Dimitrios Goustouridis,Eleni Makarona,Panagiota S. Petrou,Ioannis Raptis,Konstantinos Misiakos,Sotirios E. Kakabakos +12 more
TL;DR: The proposed immunosensor was characterized by high repeatability and accuracy as it was demonstrated by dilution linearity and recovery experiments and was in excellent agreement with those determined for the same samples by a standard clinical laboratory method.
Journal ArticleDOI
Morpholinoethanesulfonic acid-based buffer system for improved detection limit and stability of the fluoride ion selective electrode
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the zwitterionic morpholinoethanesulfonic acid (MES) as the basis for the development of a new total ionic strength adjustor buffer system for improving the analytical characteristics of fluoride sensor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct Potentiometric Measurement of Nitrate in Seeds and Produce
TL;DR: In this article, a highly stable and selective nitrate sensor was utilized for the development of a new methodology for the direct determination of nitrate concentration in dried greens and seeds, which allows for the accurate (100-102% recovery values in lettuce, olive leaves and coffee beans) and fast (4 to 8minutes) analysis of the samples without the need for filtration or other sample preparation steps.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct electrochemical flow analysis system for simultaneous monitoring of total ammonia and nitrite in seawater
TL;DR: In this paper, a portable flow analysis (FA) system for the continuous, fast and accurate measurement of total ammonia and nitrite content in non-filtered seawater samples is demonstrated.
