Journal ArticleDOI
Stratification by interferon-γ release assay level predicts risk of incident TB
Brita Askeland Winje,Richard A. White,Heidi Syre,Dag Harald Skutlaberg,Fredrik Oftung,Anne Torunn Mengshoel,Hege Salvesen Blix,Arne Broch Brantsæter,Ellen Holter,Nina Handal,Gunnar Skov Simonsen,Jan Egil Afset,Anne-Marte Bakken Kran,Anne-Marte Bakken Kran +13 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the prognostic value of the QuantiFERON TB-Gold test for incident TB shows increased risk of incident TB with rising IFN-γ concentrations, indicating that IFn-γ levels may be used to guide targeted treatment of LTBI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical and bacteriological efficacy of pivmecillinam treatment for uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused by ESBL-producing Escherichia coli: a prospective, multicentre, observational cohort study.
Marianne Bollestad,Marianne Bollestad,Nils Grude,Sigrid Solhaug,Niclas Raffelsberger,Nina Handal,Hans-Johnny Schjelderup Nilsen,Monica Regine Romstad,Andreas Emmert,Yngvar Tveten,Arne Søraas,Pål A. Jenum,Synne Jenum,Janne Møller-Stray,Einar Tollaksen Weme,Morten Lindbæk,Gunnar Skov Simonsen +16 more
TL;DR: Pivmecillinam given at 400 mg three times daily gave comparable clinical and bacteriological cure rates in women with community-acquired E. coli UTIs irrespective of ESBL production.
Journal ArticleDOI
erm gene distribution among Norwegian Bacteroides isolates and evaluation of phenotypic tests to detect inducible clindamycin resistance in Bacteroides species
Bjørn Odd Johnsen,Nina Handal,Roger Meisal,Jørgen Vildershøj Bjørnholt,Jørgen Vildershøj Bjørnholt,Peter Gaustad,Truls Michael Leegaard,Truls Michael Leegaard +7 more
TL;DR: Molecular detection of erm genes may prove a better option than the phenotypic methods for determining inducible clindamycin resistance and none of the methods performed satisfactory with sensitivities of 33%, 17% and 0% and specificities of 90%, 99% and 97% for dissociated resistance, DDD and prolonged incubation of clind amycin E-test®, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anaerobic blood culture isolates in a Norwegian university hospital: identification by MALDI‐TOF MS vs 16S rRNA sequencing and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles
Nina Handal,Silje Bakken Jørgensen,Hege Smith Tunsjø,Bjørn Odd Johnsen,Truls Michael Leegaard +4 more
TL;DR: Piperacillin‐tazobactam had an excellent activity against all anaerobes except the non‐fragilis Bacteroides spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of SARS-CoV-2 infections in healthcare workers with high and low exposures to Covid-19 patients in a Norwegian University Hospital.
Nina Handal,James A. G. Whitworth,Anita Blomfeldt,Heidi Johanne Espvik,Elisabeth Lysaker,Jan Erik Berdal,Silje Bakken Jørgensen +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined whether healthcare workers with high expo-lations of SARS-CoV-2 infection risks were at risk of infection by SARS infection.
