Masking effect produced by Mach bands on the detection of narrow bars of random polarity

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured masking by the Mach bands of the two-alternative-forced-choice (OFC) signal polarity signal and found that masking was worse in both dark and bright Mach bands than on the neighboring plateaus.
