Variability of the path of the Kuroshio ocean current over the past 25,000 years
TL;DR: In this article, alkenone-derived sea surface temperature records at multicentennial resolution from sediment cores from the Nishishichitou ridge off central Japan were presented, showing that the Kuroshio path has also fluctuated on millennial timescales.

Carbohydrate metabolism in the marine diatom Skeletonema costatum
TL;DR: Analysis of the carbohydrates, protein, and lipid of the diatom grown under light and dark conditions demonstrated that low molecular weight carbohydrates, consisting of glucose, and β-1,3-glucan, were readily metabolized by algal respiration, leaving cell-wall carbohydrates consisting of mannan and pentosan which are immune to algalrespiration.
