Prostate Cancer and Bone Metastases: The Underlying Mechanisms.
Sok Kuan Wong,Nur-Vaizura Mohamad,Tijjani Rabiu Giaze,Kok-Yong Chin,Norazlina Mohamed,Soelaiman Ima-Nirwana +5 more
TL;DR: The possible molecular mechanisms involved in governing bone metastases driven by prostate cancer are outlined, which further provide the basis in searching for new molecular targets for the development of potential therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Palm Tocotrienol Exerted Better Antioxidant Activities in Bone than α‐Tocopherol
TL;DR: It is suggested that palm tocotrienol plays an important role in preventing imbalance in bone metabolism due to free radicals and showed better protective effect against free radical damage in the femur compared to alpha-tocopherol.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beneficial effects of vitamin e isomer supplementation on static and dynamic bone histomorphometry parameters in normal male rats
Muhammad Zulfadli Mehat,Ahmad Nazrun Shuid,Norazlina Mohamed,Norliza Muhammad,Ima Nirwana Soelaiman +4 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that vitamin E can promote bone formation in normal rats, with γ-tocotrienol being the most potent form of vitamin E.
Journal ArticleDOI
Negative effects of nicotine on bone-resorbing cytokines and bone histomorphometric parameters in male rats
Hermizi Hapidin,Faizah Othman,Ima Nirwana Soelaiman,Ahmad Nazrun Shuid,Douglas Alwyn Luke,Norazlina Mohamed +5 more
TL;DR: Treatment with nicotine 7 mg/kg for 4 months was detrimental to bone by causing an increase in the bone resorbing cytokines and cotinine levels and exerted negative effects on the dynamic trabecular histomorphometric parameters.
