Journal ArticleDOI

Review of the effect of aircraft noise on sleep disturbance in adults

TL;DR: It is suggested that there is a causal relation between exposure to aircraft noise and sleep disturbances, however, the evidence comes mostly from experimental studies focusing on healthy adults and for those with chronic diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Implementation of the Montreal heat response plan during the 2010 heat wave.

TL;DR: Following the 2010 heat wave, the Montreal heat response plan and heat surveillance system were updated to include initiatives to better communicate preventive measures to the vulnerable populations and to intervene earlier during a heat wave.
Journal ArticleDOI

Risk assessment of aircraft noise on sleep in Montreal.

TL;DR: Using the 2009 flight patterns, the data suggest that a small number of Montreal residents are exposed to noise levels that could induce one or more awakenings additional to spontaneous awakenings per night.
Journal ArticleDOI

Authors' response to Boivin and Savard commentary.

TL;DR: A large number of subjects studied by Basner et al. are more likely to be representative of the population regularly exposed to aircraft noise, and Basner's function curve was used in other locations in Europe, which suggests that while the use of precise trajectories would definitely be preferable to modeled trajectos, the imprecision associated with modeled trajectories is low.
