In other to overcome the devastating deterioration of mild steel in service, Zn-based embedded Al/SnO2
composite coatings have been considered as reinforcing alternative replacements to the more traditional
deposition for improved surface properties by using Dual Anode Electrolytic Co-deposition (DAECD) technique
from chloride bath. The structural characterization of the starting materials and deposited coating
are evaluated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy
(EDX) elemental analysis and atomic force microscope (AFM). The hardness behaviour, wear
and intermetallic distribution was examined by diamond based microhardness tester, CETR reciprocating
sliding test rig and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) respectively. The corrosion properties of the developed
coating were examined in 3.5% NaCl. The microstructure of the deposited sample obtained at 7% SnO2,
revealed fine-grains deposit of the Al/SnO2 on the mild steel surface. The results showed that the
Al/SnO2 strengthening alloy plays a significant role in impelling the wear and corrosion behaviour of
Zn-Al/SnO2 coatings in an aggressive saline environment. Interestingly Zn-30Al-7Sn-chloride showed
the highest wear and improved corrosion resistance due to Al/SnO2 oxide passive film that forms during
anodic polarization. This work established that co-deposition of mild steel with Al/SnO2 is auspicious in
increasing the anti-wear and corrosion progression.

Investigation of microstructural and physical characteristics of nano composite tin oxide-doped Al3+ in Zn2+ based composite coating by DAECD technique

This paper summarizes the effect of inhibitors on the corrosion of stainless steels and aluminium alloys in different media. Stainless steels and aluminium alloys have a wide range of applications in construction, transport, domestic appliances, medical, and energy related fields. The exposure of stainless steels and aluminium alloys to corroding environments however, results in the degradation of the materials. Inhibitors are used to mitigate the corrosion of these alloys in various corrosive media and enhance their durability. Corrosion inhibitors can either be anodic inhibitors, cathodic inhibitors, mixed inhibitors, or volatile corrosion inhibitors. This review showed that inhibition efficiency increases with increase in inhibitor concentration irrespective of alloy tested. However, adsorption of inhibitors on the alloys’ surface depends on the alloy type. Adsorption of inhibitors on the surface of stainless steels obeyed Langmuir adsorption isotherms, while those of aluminium alloys obeyed Langmuir, Temkin, Flory-Huggins and Freundlich isotherms. This study is important for different industrial fields where stainless steels and aluminium alloys are utilized.

In this study, we developed Zn–Nb2O5 composite coatings from sulfate bath for wear and corrosion performance on mild steel by electrodeposition technique. The effect of Nb2O5 particulate on the Zn–Nb2O5 properties was investigated. The particle volume fraction was varied within between 10 and 20 wt%. The structural properties of the composite coatings were characterized using scanning electron microscope equipped with energy-dispersive spectrometer. The hardness and wear of the composite coating were measured with diamond base microhardness indenter tester and sliding CETR reciprocating wear testers, respectively. The corrosion properties were examined in 3.65% NaCl using AUTOLAB 101 Metrohm potentiostat–galvanostat with linear polarization technique. The results showed that average hardness value of 192.6 and 200.6 HV and passivation potential of 4.39E+08 and 5.30E+08(Ω) were obtained for the 10–20 wt% Nb2O5 particulate on the Zn–Nb2O5 coatings. The wear performance improves by 63.4% as against the control sample. In all, this study established that up to 20 wt% of Nb2O5 in Zn–Nb2O5 composite coating significant corrosion, wear and microhardness propagation resistance of mild steel was attained.

Performance Evaluation Effect of Nb2O5 Particulate on the Microstructural, Wear and Anti-corrosion Resistance of Zn–Nb2O5 Coatings on Mild Steel for Marine Application

In this paper the microstructure and tribological behavior of Zn–SnO2 (Zn–Sn) alloys produced through chloride and sulphates co-deposition is presented for comparison. 7.0 wt % SnO2 was added to Zn bath and deposited at 0.3 V. The interfacial effect and microchemistry of the fabricated composite was studied by optical microscope, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with energy disperse spectrum (EDS). The tribological behavior of the metal composites with SnO2 particles as reinforcement was studied using reciprocating sliding tester. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM) of the composite surfaces indicates that there is good interfacial interaction between
the alloy formulated matrixes made from the two baths and the substrate. Reasonable uniform distribution of
Sn metal phase particulates is shown for both coating alloy. Increases in hardness and wear resistance are attributed to the uniform and coherent precipitation in the metal interface especially for Zn–7Sn–S–0.3V. In general, 7 wt % Sn additions to the bath showed more hastening to improved surface properties and better mechanical characteristics.

Evaluation of Composition, Microstructure Characterizationand Interfacial Properties of Zn–SnO2 Metal Matrix Composite Coating

Corrosion susceptibility and inhibition of 12Cr martensitic stainless steel was evaluated in different sulphuric acid
and the acid chloride concentrations. Corrosion inhibition of the tested samples in 1M H2SO4 was evaluated using
potassium dichromate of different concentrations. The experiments were performed at ambient temperature using
potentiodynamic polarization measurement. This paper reports the observed electrochemical response of the tested
samples in the strong acid environments. Potentiodynamic polarization resistance technique was used to estimate
the corrosion rate, the polarisation resistance and inhibition of the alloy samples tested. The results obtained
showed some varied magnitude of corrosion susceptibility for the stainless steel at the different H2SO4
concentrations and also in the acid chloride test media. Corrosion inhibition of the tested samples was effectively
achieved using the potassium dichromate inhibitor.

Electrochemical corrosion resistance and susceptibility of 12Cr martensiticstainless steel in H2SO4

This paper investigates the appropriateness of Internet-based learning resources in the acquisition of French vocabulary by foreign learners using the framework of the social interaction theory of learning. Five online French language learning platforms are randomly selected and an assessment of their responsiveness to the framework of the social interaction theory of foreign language learning is
carried out. Findings show that the five online resources, although not on the same level of interactive effectiveness, would be of great assistance to foreign learners of French in their quest to acquire adequate vocabulary. Finally, far-reaching recommendations are made to developers of online
vocabulary learning resources on how to best present their learning contents for optimal results. Recommendations are also made to French teachers and learners on ways by which the use of online platforms can be optimally utilized to facilitate the acquisition of French vocabulary.
