Journal ArticleDOI
MONARCH 3: Abemaciclib As Initial Therapy for Advanced Breast Cancer
Matthew P. Goetz,Masakazu Toi,Mario Campone,Joohyuk Sohn,Shani Paluch-Shimon,Jens Huober,In Hae Park,Olivier Tredan,Shin-Cheh Chen,Luis Manso,Orit Freedman,Georgina Garnica Jaliffe,T. Forrester,Martin Frenzel,Susana Barriga,Ian C. Smith,Nawel Bourayou,Angelo Di Leo +17 more
TL;DR: Abemaciclib plus a nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor was effective as initial therapy, significantly improving progression-free survival and objective response rate and demonstrating a tolerable safety profile in women with HR-positive, HER2-negative advanced breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessing Women at High Risk of Breast Cancer: A Review of Risk Assessment Models
TL;DR: This review aims to distill the diverse literature and provide practicing clinicians with an overview of the available risk assessment methods and allow clinicians to more accurately determine which women are most likely to develop breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prospective study evaluating the impact of tissue confirmation of metastatic disease in patients with breast cancer.
Eitan Amir,Naomi Miller,William R. Geddie,Orit Freedman,Farrah Kassam,Christine Simmons,Maria Oldfield,George Dranitsaris,George Tomlinson,Andreas Laupacis,Ian F. Tannock,Mark Clemons +11 more
TL;DR: Clinicians alter immediate management in one of seven patients on the basis of results of the biopsy, and discordance is not then associated with detrimental effects on outcome, suggesting biopsy of metastases is technically feasible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tissue confirmation of disease recurrence in breast cancer patients: pooled analysis of multi-centre, multi-disciplinary prospective studies.
Eitan Amir,Mark Clemons,Colin A. Purdie,Naomi Miller,Phil Quinlan,William R. Geddie,Robert E. Coleman,Orit Freedman,Lee B. Jordan,Alastair M. Thompson +9 more
TL;DR: A pooled analysis of individual patient data from two large prospective studies comprising biopsy of recurrent lesions obtained from consenting patients was undertaken in this paper, showing that there is substantial discordance in receptor status between primary and recurrent breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
A phase 2 trial exploring the effects of high‐dose (10,000 IU/day) vitamin D3 in breast cancer patients with bone metastases
Eitan Amir,Christine Simmons,Orit Freedman,George Dranitsaris,David E.C. Cole,Reinhold Vieth,W. Ooi,Mark Clemons +7 more
TL;DR: This study aimed to assess the effect of this dose of vitamin D3 in patients with bone metastases from breast cancer, and found that daily sunlight exposure can generate the equivalent of a 10,000‐IU oral dose.
