A separable electrical connector component generally including an insulating housing, a current carrying element disposed within the insulative housing and a voltage control device disposed within the housing. The housing has a mid-section, a first insertion end extending from the mid-section in a first direction, a second insertion end extending from the mid-section in a second direction opposite the first direction and a third section extending outwardly from the mid-section between the first and second insertion ends. The current carrying member extends through the first insertion end, the mid-section and the second insertion end. The voltage control device is disposed within the third section of the housing and is in electrical communication with the current carrying element.

Separable electrical connector component having a voltage output branch and a direct access point

A cable sleeve which is longitudinally water tight, includes a sleeve head which is composed of an outside member having an inner cavity which expands conically from one end towards the other end and an inside member which is introduced in the cavity and has an outside surface which is matched to the conical inside surface of the outside member so that when the two members are assembled, a conical annular gap is formed therebetween for holding leads of the cable in a fanned out manner. If the sleeve head is for a branch fitting, it will be constructed to receive two cables whose leads will both be fanned out in the gap between the inside and outside members, which gap also receives a small amount of sealing compound to form a water tight seal with the leads. The shape of the cavity and the outside surface of the inside member can be each conical or if the head is designed to receive more than one cable, it can have a flattened conical surface to form a flattened conical gap.

The method involves using a hardening filling compound (10) for electrically isolating and sealing a connection between at least two grounding cables (1a, 1b). The connection is enclosed completely in a flexible film (3) as a mould up to a filling hole (9). The interior of the mould is filled through the filling hole with the filling compound (10). The film is pressed inwards against the components of the connection by an external force, until the filling compound is cured. The film is preferably pressed together indirectly, by spacers (8).

In the case of a cable fitting which is constructed as a straight plug for the plug-in connection of a screened heavy-current cable to an electrical apparatus, in order to provide conductive electrical access to the conductor of the heavy-current cable, the insulating body (1) of the cable fitting is provided with a second connecting stub (10) which, in the region of the screening electrode (5) of the insulating body is arranged at right angles to the straight-line continuous hole (2) in the insulating body. This connecting stub (10) is of the same design as the opening (4) of the continuous hole (2) on the apparatus side.

Plug-in cable fitting

In order to use as little casting resin as possible for a junction collar on heavy-current cables, a housing which can be shrunk is used as the casting mould (1), whose interior is not filled with casting resin until it has been shrunk on the junction point. For this purpose, an annular or tubular piece (9) consisting of a material which cannot be shrunk is arranged in the casting opening.
