Journal ArticleDOI

The reactivity of 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-pyrone towards aliphatic saturated and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes

TL;DR: In this paper, the title pyrone with cinnamaldehyde occurs at the carbonyl group of the aldehyde and the nonisolated intermediates can undergo transformations in at least five different ways.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reactions between 4‐hydroxy‐6‐methyl‐2‐pyrone and aldehydes both in the absence and the presence of added thiols

TL;DR: Aldehydes react with 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-pyrone, 2, under Knoevenagel conditions to afford very elec-trophilic intermediates, which can be trapped by more 2 or thiols to give dilactones 3 or monolactones 4 as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Brominated derivatives of 4‐hydroxy‐ and 4‐methoxy‐6‐methyl‐2H‐pyran‐2‐ones

TL;DR: In this article, 25 different brominated derivatives of 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-pyrone (triacetic acid lactone) and 3-acetyl-4-hydrox-6 -methyl 2 pyrone have been described.
Journal ArticleDOI

The reactivity of 4‐hydroxy‐6‐methyl‐2‐pyrone towards different types of ketones

TL;DR: In this paper, 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-pyrone (triacetic acid lactone) reacts at C-3 with acetone, mesityl oxide and pentane-2,4-dione.
Journal ArticleDOI

The reactions of 4‐hydroxy‐2‐pyrones with 2‐hydroxybenzaldehydes. A note of warning

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the products formed in the reactions of 4-hydroxy-2-chromenone with 2-hydroxbenzaldehydes in a molar ratio 1:1 are considered erroneous.
