Journal ArticleDOI
The distant Type Ia supernova rate
Reynald Pain,Sebastien Fabbro,Mark Sullivan,Richard S. Ellis,Greg Aldering,Pierre Astier,S. E. Duestua,A. S. Fruchter,G. Goldhaber,A. Goobar,D. E. Groom,D. Hardin,I. M. Hook,D. A. Howell,Mike Irwin,A. G. Kim,M. Y. Kim,R. A. Knop,Julia C. Lee,C. Lidman,Richard G. McMahon,Peter Nugent,Nino Panagia,C. R. Pennypacker,Saul Perlmutter,P. Ruiz-Lapuente,K. Schahmaneche,B. E. Schaefer,Nicholas A. Walton +28 more
TL;DR: In this article, the rate of distant Type Ia supernovae derived using 4 large subsets of data from the Supernova Cosmology Project was derived using a spatially-flat cosmological model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optical and IR observations of SN 2002dj: some possible common properties of fast expanding SNe Ia
G. Pignata,S. Benetti,Paolo A. Mazzali,Rubina Kotak,Ferdinando Patat,Peter Meikle,M. Stehle,Bruno Leibundgut,N. B. Suntzeff,Lucio M. Buson,Enrico Cappellaro,A. Clocchiatti,Mario Hamuy,José Maza,Javier Méndez,P. Ruiz-Lapuente,Maria Elena Salvo,Brian P. Schmidt,Massimo Turatto,Wolfgang Hillebrandt +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors obtained extensive photometry and spectroscopy of the type Ia SN 2002dj covering epochs from 11 days before to nearly two years after maximum, and they tentatively identified a faster rise to maximum, a more pronounced inflection in the V and R light curves after maximum and a brighter, slower declining late time B light curve as common photometric properties of this class of objects.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Type Ia Supernova 1999aw: a Probable 1999aa-like Event In a Low-Luminosity Host Galaxy
Louis-Gregory Strolger,Robert Connon Smith,Nicholas B. Suntzeff,M. M. Phillips,Greg Aldering,Peter Nugent,R. A. Knop,Saul Perlmutter,R. A. Schommer,Luis C. Ho,Mario Hamuy,Kevin Krisciunas,R. A. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the BVRI and J{s} HK-s} lightcurves of SN 1999aw (through 100 days past maximum light), as well as several epochs of optical spectra.
Journal ArticleDOI
New approaches to SNe Ia progenitors
TL;DR: In the last decade, considerable efforts have been made, both observationally and theoretically, to solve the problem of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) and the nature of their progenitor systems (apart from the fact that they must content at least one white dwarf, that explodes) as discussed by the authors.
SPECTRA AND HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE LIGHT CURVES OF SIX TYPE Ia SUPERNOVAE AT 0.511

Wood-Vasey,Naoki Yasuda,Sc Project +45 more
TL;DR: Kowalski et al. as mentioned in this paper reported on work to increase the number of well-measured Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) at high redshifts.
