Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical characteristics of patients with resistant hypertension: the RESIST-POL study.
Elżbieta Florczak,Aleksander Prejbisz,Elżbieta Szwench-Pietrasz,P. Sliwinski,Przemyslaw Bielen,Anna Klisiewicz,Ilona Michałowska,E. Warchol,Magdalena Januszewicz,Maria Kała,Adam Witkowski,Andrzej Wiecek,Krzysztof Narkiewicz,Virend K. Somers,Andrzej Januszewicz +14 more
TL;DR: In patients with RHTN, OSA and MS were the most frequent conditions, frequently overlapping with each other and also with PA, and in the vast majority of patients with truly R HTN, at least one of three co-morbidities—OSA, MS and PA is present.
Journal ArticleDOI
Renal Denervation in Resistant Hypertension and Obstructive Sleep Apnea: Randomized Proof-of-Concept Phase II Trial.
Ewa Warchoł-Celińska,Aleksander Prejbisz,Jacek Kadziela,Elżbieta Florczak,Magdalena Januszewicz,Ilona Michałowska,Piotr Dobrowolski,Marek Kabat,P. Sliwinski,Anna Klisiewicz,Roman Topor-Madry,Krzysztof Narkiewicz,Virend K. Somers,Paul A. Sobotka,Adam Witkowski,Andrzej Januszewicz +15 more
TL;DR: In a randomized controlled trial, RDN lowered both office and ambulatory BP in patients with resistant hypertension and OSA and was accompanied by improvement of the clinical severity of OSA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship between primary aldosteronism and obstructive sleep apnoea, metabolic abnormalities and cardiac structure in patients with resistant hypertension
Aleksander Prejbisz,Elżbieta Florczak,Anna Klisiewicz,Piotr Dobrowolski,Hanna Janaszek-Sitkowska,Przemyslaw Bielen,Elżbieta Szwench-Pietrasz,Ewa Warchoł-Celińska,Sylwia Kołodziejczyk-Kruk,Jadwiga Janas,Marek Kabat,Jacek Imiela,P. Sliwinski,Andrzej Januszewicz +13 more
TL;DR: Both metabolic abnormalities and target organ damage are more pronounced in patients with RHTN, PA and OSA, and the presence of PA was associated with higher left ventricular mass and higher frequency ofleft ventricular hypertrophy.
Journal ArticleDOI
[op.4b.06] frequency of primary aldosteronism in patients with obstructive sleep apnea – osa-pa study
M. Karcz,J. Obarska,R. Bobrowski,D. Lewko,M. Drab,S. Kolodziejczyk-Kruk,Ewa Warchoł-Celińska,Barbara Pręgowska-Chwała,Jadwiga Janas,Hanna Janaszek-Sitkowska,Marek Kabat,U. Ambroziak,T. Bednarczuk,P. Sliwinski,Martin Reincke,J.W.M. Lenders,Andrzej Januszewicz,Aleksander Prejbisz +17 more
TL;DR: Preliminary results of this on-going prospective OSA-PA study suggest that the prevalence of PA in hypertensive patients with moderate-to-severe OSA is 16%, and there were no differences in age, gender, blood pressure levels, frequency of MS and its components, Frequency of resistant hypertension, CVD and OSA symptoms between patients with PA and without PA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Frequency of obturative sleep apnea and other common secondary hypertension causes in patients with true resistant hypertension: pp.32.291
Elżbieta Florczak,Andrzej Januszewicz,Aleksander Prejbisz,I. Cendrowska-Demkow,P Zielen,Marek Kabat,P. Sliwinski,Przemyslaw Bielen,A. Klisiewicz,Ilona Michałowska,Magdalena Januszewicz,E. Warchol,K. Belka,Włodzimierz Januszewicz,Piotr Hoffman,Andrzej Wiecek,K. Narkiewicz +16 more
TL;DR: In the studied group of patients with true resistant hypertension secondary causes were frequent, with moderate-severe OSA occurring in more than half patients, it may be postulated that in patients withtrue refractory hypertension secondary hypertension should be obligatory screened.
