Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Renal Sympathetic Denervation on Blood Pressure, Sleep Apnea Course, and Glycemic Control in Patients With Resistant Hypertension and Sleep Apnea
Adam Witkowski,Aleksander Prejbisz,Elżbieta Florczak,Jacek Kądziela,Paweł Śliwiński,Przemyslaw Bielen,Ilona Michałowska,Marek Kabat,E. Warchol,Magdalena Januszewicz,Krzysztof Narkiewicz,Virend K. Somers,Paul A. Sobotka,Andrzej Januszewicz +13 more
TL;DR: Catheter-based renal sympathetic denervation lowered BP in patients with refractory hypertension and obstructiveSleep apnea, which was accompanied by improvement of sleep apnea severity, and Interestingly, there are also accompanying improvements in glucose tolerance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical characteristics of patients with resistant hypertension: the RESIST-POL study.
Elżbieta Florczak,Aleksander Prejbisz,Elżbieta Szwench-Pietrasz,P. Sliwinski,Przemyslaw Bielen,Anna Klisiewicz,Ilona Michałowska,E. Warchol,Magdalena Januszewicz,Maria Kała,Adam Witkowski,Andrzej Wiecek,Krzysztof Narkiewicz,Virend K. Somers,Andrzej Januszewicz +14 more
TL;DR: In patients with RHTN, OSA and MS were the most frequent conditions, frequently overlapping with each other and also with PA, and in the vast majority of patients with truly R HTN, at least one of three co-morbidities—OSA, MS and PA is present.
Journal ArticleDOI
Independent association of obstructive sleep apnea with left ventricular geometry and systolic function in resistant hypertension: the RESIST-POL study.
Piotr Dobrowolski,Anna Klisiewicz,Elżbieta Florczak,Aleksander Prejbisz,Przemyslaw Bielen,Paweł Śliwiński,Marek Kabat,Justyna Rybicka,Roman Topór-Mądry,Andrzej Januszewicz,Piotr Hoffman +10 more
TL;DR: In patients with true RHTN without diabetes concentric geometry and systolic dysfunction are independently associated with moderate and severe OSA and nighttime BP levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship between primary aldosteronism and obstructive sleep apnoea, metabolic abnormalities and cardiac structure in patients with resistant hypertension
Aleksander Prejbisz,Elżbieta Florczak,Anna Klisiewicz,Piotr Dobrowolski,Hanna Janaszek-Sitkowska,Przemyslaw Bielen,Elżbieta Szwench-Pietrasz,Ewa Warchoł-Celińska,Sylwia Kołodziejczyk-Kruk,Jadwiga Janas,Marek Kabat,Jacek Imiela,P. Sliwinski,Andrzej Januszewicz +13 more
TL;DR: Both metabolic abnormalities and target organ damage are more pronounced in patients with RHTN, PA and OSA, and the presence of PA was associated with higher left ventricular mass and higher frequency ofleft ventricular hypertrophy.
Journal Article
Influence of neck circumference and body mass index on obstructive sleep apnoea severity in males
Robert Pływaczewski,Przemyslaw Bielen,Michał Bednarek,Luiza Jonczak,Dorota Górecka,Pawel Sliwinski +5 more
TL;DR: The strongest correlation between AHI/RDI, younger age and BMI is found, while correlation between neck circumference and AHI-RDI was significant but less when compared to BMI.
