Journal ArticleDOI

Extracellular matrix remodeling after balloon angioplasty injury in a rabbit model of restenosis.

TL;DR: Significant increases in collagen, elastin, and proteoglycan synthesis, up to 4 to 10 times above control nondamaged contralateral iliac arteries, were noted at 1, 2, and 4 weeks, accompanied by significant increases in synthesis that coincided with the temporal increase in cross-sectional area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inhibitory role of the coronary arterial endothelium to alpha-adrenergic stimulation in experimental heart failure.

TL;DR: The data suggest that alpha-adrenergic tone in canine coronary arteries is diminished by pacing-induced CHF because of a decrease in alpha 1-adRenoceptor-mediated constriction and an enhanced capacity of the endothelium to antagonize the direct vascular smooth muscle response of norepinephrine through endothelioceptor-dependent, alpha 2- adreno receptor-mediated relaxations.
