Unique copolymers comprising propylene, ethylene and/or one or more unsaturated comonomers are characterized as having: at least one, preferably more than one, of the following properties: (i) 13C NMR peaks corresponding to a regio-error at about 14.6 and about 15.7 ppm, the peaks of about equal intensity, (ii) a B-value greater than about 1.4 when the comonomer content of the copolymer is at least about 3 wt%, (iii) a skewness index, S?ix?, greater than about -1.20, (iv) a DSC curve with a Tme that remains essentially the same and a Tmax that decreases as the amount of comonomer in the copolymer is increased, and (v) an X-ray diffraction pattern that reports more gamma-form crystals than a comparable copolymer prepared with a Ziegler-Natta catalyst. These polypropylene polymers are made using a nonmetallocene, metal-centered, heteroaryl ligand catalyst. These polymers can be blended with other polymers, and are useful in the manufacture of films, sheets, foams, fibers and molded articles.

Isotactic propylene copolymers, their preparation and use

The present invention relates to a process for producing a polyolefin with improved surface hardness and scratch resistance, and to the use of such polyolefin. More specifically, the invention relates to a process for producing a polyolefin on the basis of a polypropylene matrix material including bimodal rubber compositions.

Polyolefin with improved scratch resistance and process for producing the same

Improved thermoplastic polymer blend compositions comprising an isotactic polypropylene component and an alpha-olefin and propylene copolymer component, said copolymer comprising crystallizable alpha-olefin sequences. In a preferred embodiment, improved thermoplastic polymer blends are provided comprising from about 35% to about 85% isotactic polypropylene and from about 30% to about 70% of an ethylene and propylene copolymer, wherein said copolymer comprises isotactically crystallizable propylene sequences and is predominately propylene. The resultant blends manifest unexpected compatibility characteristics, increased tensile strength, and improved process characteristics, e.g., a single melting point.

Propylene olefin copolymers

This invention relates to a polymer comprising one or more C3 to C40 olefins, optionally one or more diolefins, and less than 15 mole % of ehtylene, where the polymer has: a) a Dot T-Peel of 1 Newton or more; and b) a branching index (g') of 0.95 or less measured at the Mz of the polymer; c) an Mw of 100,000 or less and to a continuous process to produce a branched olefin polymer comprising 1) selecting a first catalyst component capable of producing a polymer having an Mw of 100,000 or less and a crystallinity of 5% or less under selected polymerization conditions; 2) selecting a second catalyst component capable of producing polymer having an Mw of 100,000 or less and a crystallinity of 20% or more at the selected polymerization conditions; 3) contacting the catalyst components in the presence of one or more activators with one or more C3 to C40 olefins, and, optionally one or more diolefins; 4) at a temperature of greater than 100°C; 5) at a residence time of 120 minutes or less; 6) wherein the ratio of the first catalyst to the second catalyst is from 1:1 to 50:1; 7) wherein the activity of the catalyst components is at least 100 kilograms of polymer per gram of the catalyst components; and wherein at least 20% of the olefins are converted to polymer.

Multiple catalyst system for olefin polymerization and polymers produced therefrom

There is provided a process for the copolymerisation of propylene with at least one C4-20 α-olefin or C4-20 diene in a reaction medium in the presence of a catalyst system at a temperature of greater that 80 °C or at a temperature and pressure above the critical temperature and pressure of the reaction medium. Under such conditions, comonomer incorporation is higher than under standard conditions.

Process for preparing propylene copolymers

Olefins or mixtures of olefins, particularly propene or mixtures of propene advantageously with ethene, can be polymerized using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system containing, besides a transition-metal-based procatalyst and cocatalyst which is an organometallic compound, a compound particularly suited for controlling the stereospecificity of the produced polymer. Such a compound called an external donor may also have other effects. By using an acetal derivative of an aldehyde that has two ether groups for this purpose, advantageously selected from the group of dialkoxyphenylalkanes, e.g., dimethoxyphenylpropane, a good stereospecificity of the product is attained combined with the high hydrogen sensitivity of the catalyst system, whereby the use of hydrogen as the chain transfer agent offers an easy control method of the molecular weight of the product by means of adjusting the amount of hydrogen available in the polymerization reaction. If with the acetal derivative donor is used a clearly less hydrogen sensitive donor, e.g. alkoxysilanes, much broader MWD's of the product are achieved.

Stereospecific catalyst system for polymerization of olefins

Heterophasic propylene copolymer and process for its preparation

The invnetion provides a heterophasic propylene polymer composition comprising the following components: i) 60 to 90 % wt, relative to the total weight of components i), ii) and iii), of a propylene polymer matrix comprising a propylene homopolymer and, optionally a propylene copolymer, said propylene polymer matrix having an ethylene content of no more then 5 % wt; ii) 5 to 30 % wt, relative to the total weight of components i), ii) and iii), of an elastomer; and iii) 5 to 25 % wt, relative to the total weight of components i), ii) and iii), of an ethylene copolymer plastomer having a density of not more than 910 kg/m3 and a melt flow rate MFR?2.16? Heterophasic propylene polymer

A process for producing terpolymers of propylene, comprising: a) feeding into a slurry reactor a reaction mixture containing 50-85 wt.% of propylene, 1-10 wt.% of ethylene, 15-40 wt.% of another C4-C8 alpha-olefin, a catalyst system maintaining olefin polymerization at said temperature conditions, and optionally hydrogen, b) polymerizing said reaction mixture at a temperature of lower than 70 °C a sufficient time to obtain a propylene terpolymer amounting to 50-99 wt.% of the end product, c) transferring said reaction mixture into a gas phase reactor operating at a pressure of higher than 5 bars, preferably higher than 10 bars, optionally adding 0-30 wt.% of ethylene, 0-10 wt.% of another C4-C8 alpha-olefin, 0-40 wt.% of propylene and optionally hydrogen, and d) continuing polymerization in said gas phase reactor for obtaining a propylene terpolymer amounting to 1-50 wt.% of the end product. The terpolymer has a melting temperature less than 135 °C, preferably less than 132 °C, and it can be used for manufacturing films having good sealing properties.
