Global diurnal temperature range (DTR) changes since 1901

TL;DR: Based on a newly developed China Meteorological Administration-Land Surface Air Temperature (CMA-LSAT) dataset, this article analyzed the DTR changes between 1901 and 2014, and found that the global land surface DTR significantly decreased at a rate of − 0.036°C decade− 1 over the 1901-2014 period, mainly due to the large decrease in DTR from 1951 to 2014.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urbanization Effect in Regional Temperature Series Based on a Remote Sensing Classification Scheme of Stations

TL;DR: In this article, a method is developed to determine the urbanization level around observational sites on varied spatial scales and to classify the sites into different categories of stations (U1, U2,..., U6) with U1 the least and U6 the largest affected by urbanization.
Journal ArticleDOI

A remarkable climate warming hiatus over Northeast China since 1998

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors analyzed the changes of land surface air temperature in recent 64 years with an emphasis on the Global Warming Hiatus (GWH) period, and found that the cooling trend in Northeast China is more evident in the cold season.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urbanization Effects on Estimates of Global Trends in Mean and Extreme Air Temperature

TL;DR: In this article, a new method based on machine learning to classify the observational stations into rural stations and urban stations was proposed, and the global and regional land annual mean and extreme temperature indices series over 1951-2018 for all stations and rural stations were calculated.
