Journal ArticleDOI
The reliability of analysis of intraoperative frozen sections for identifying active infection during revision hip or knee arthroplasty
TL;DR: It is suggested that it is valuable to obtain tissue for intraoperative frozen sections during revision hip and knee arthroplasty because at least ten polymorphonuclear leukocytes per high-power field was predictive of infection, while five to nine polymorphon nuclear leukocyte per high power field was not necessarily consistent with infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of intraoperative frozen sections in revision total joint arthroplasty.
TL;DR: Analysis of frozen sections of periprosthetic tissue is a reliable predictor of the presence of active infection during revision joint arthroplasty and is recommended for use to differentiate aseptic from septic loosening.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of frozen sections of intraoperative specimens obtained at the time of reoperation after hip or knee resection arthroplasty for the treatment of infection.
Craig J. Della Valle,Eric A. Bogner,Panna Desai,Jess H. Lonner,Edward M. Adler,Joseph D. Zuckerman,Paul E. Di Cesare +6 more
TL;DR: A negative finding on intraoperative analysis of frozen sections has a high predictive value with regard to ruling out the presence of infection; however, the sensitivity of the test for the detection of persistent infection is poor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigations into the fat pads of the sole of the foot: anatomy and histology.
Melvin H. Jahss,James D. Michelson,Panna Desai,Robert A. Kaye,Frederick J. Kummer,William Buschman,Frank Watkins,Steven Reich +7 more
TL;DR: The fat pads of the sole of cadaver feet were found to contain a significant nerve and blood supply separate from that to the surrounding musculature and skin, and the septal anatomy of the fat pads is central to their cushioning function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Granulomatous inflammation after Hylan G-F 20 viscosupplementation of the knee : a report of six cases.
TL;DR: It is believed that the injected hyaluronate (Hylan G-F 20) may have been responsible for the synovitis in patients and thus may be a pathological cause of recalcitrant symptoms after such injection.
