Journal ArticleDOI
Poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma: the Turin proposal for the use of uniform diagnostic criteria and an algorithmic diagnostic approach.
Marco Volante,Paola Collini,Yuri E. Nikiforov,Atsuhiko Sakamoto,Kennichi Kakudo,Ryohei Katoh,Ricardo V. Lloyd,Virginia A. LiVolsi,Mauro Papotti,Manuel Sobrinho-Simões,Gianni Bussolati,Juan Rosai +11 more
TL;DR: To compare lesions occurring in different geographic areas and the diagnostic criteria applied in those countries, a study with a panel of internationally recognized thyroid pathologists to develop consensus diagnostic criteria for PD carcinomas was designed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aggressive Surgical Policies in a Retrospectively Reviewed Single-Institution Case Series of Retroperitoneal Soft Tissue Sarcoma Patients
Alessandro Gronchi,Salvatore Lo Vullo,Marco Fiore,Chiara Mussi,Silvia Stacchiotti,Paola Collini,Laura Lozza,Elisabetta Pennacchioli,Luigi Mariani,Paolo G. Casali +9 more
TL;DR: In a single institution, the adoption of a policy of more liberal visceral en bloc resections was paralleled by greater local control, and liposarcomas and grades 1 to 2 tumors had the greatest local benefit at 5 years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of angiogenesis stimulators and inhibitors in human thyroid tumors and correlation with clinical pathological features
Giuseppe Bunone,Paolo Vigneri,Luigi Mariani,Simona Butó,Paola Collini,Silvana Pilotti,Marco A. Pierotti,Italia Bongarzone +7 more
TL;DR: In human thyroid tumors, angiogenesis factors seem involved in neoplastic growth and aggressiveness, in keeping with a recent hypothesis that in the presence of VEGF, angiopoietin-2 may collaborate at the front of invading vascular sprouts, serving as an initial angiogenic signal that accompanies tumor growth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy of trabectedin (ecteinascidin-743) in advanced pretreated myxoid liposarcomas: a retrospective study
Federica Grosso,Robin L. Jones,George D. Demetri,Ian Judson,Jean-Yves Blay,Axel Le Cesne,Roberta Sanfilippo,Paola Casieri,Paola Collini,Palma Dileo,Carlo Spreafico,Silvia Stacchiotti,Elena Tamborini,Juan Carlos Tercero,Jose Jimeno,Maurizio D'Incalci,Alessandro Gronchi,Jonathan A. Fletcher,Silvana Pilotti,Paolo G. Casali +19 more
TL;DR: Trabectedin was associated with antitumour activity in patients with myxoid liposarcoma in preoperative and metastatic settings as mentioned in this paper, and the selective mechanism of action for trabectionin in this translocation-related sarcoma is being studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors: Prognostic factors and survival in a series of patients treated at a single institution
Matteo Anghileri,Rosalba Miceli,Marco Fiore,Luigi Mariani,Andrea Ferrari,Chiara Mussi,Laura Lozza,Paola Collini,Patrizia Olmi,Paolo G. Casali,Silvana Pilotti,Alessandro Gronchi +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the prognostic factors and clinical outcomes of patients who had malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors with and without neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1).
