Aggressive Surgical Policies in a Retrospectively Reviewed Single-Institution Case Series of Retroperitoneal Soft Tissue Sarcoma Patients
Alessandro Gronchi,Salvatore Lo Vullo,Marco Fiore,Chiara Mussi,Silvia Stacchiotti,Paola Collini,Laura Lozza,Elisabetta Pennacchioli,Luigi Mariani,Paolo G. Casali +9 more
TL;DR: In a single institution, the adoption of a policy of more liberal visceral en bloc resections was paralleled by greater local control, and liposarcomas and grades 1 to 2 tumors had the greatest local benefit at 5 years.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this paper, a transatlantic working group was established to share institutional experiences, build large multi-institutional case series, and develop consensus documents on the approach to recurrent soft tissue sarcomas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chordoma: Natural History and Results in 28 Patients Treated at a Single Institution
D. Baratti,Alessandro Gronchi,Elisabetta Pennacchioli,Laura Lozza,Maurizio Colecchia,M. Fiore,Mario Santinami +6 more
TL;DR: High sacral amputation can achieve a good rate of wide-margin resections for sacrococcygeal chordomas and adjuvant radiotherapy may offset the negative effect in the prognosis of marginal resections.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does melanoma behave differently in younger children than in adults? A retrospective study of 33 cases of childhood melanoma from a single institution.
Andrea Ferrari,Aldo Bono,Marzia Baldi,Paola Collini,Michela Casanova,Elisabetta Pennacchioli,Monica Terenziani,Ilaria Marcon,Mario Santinami,Cesare Bartoli +9 more
TL;DR: Findings give the impression that melanoma behaves differently in the younger age group, by comparison with adult cases, which can have a higher percentage of atypical clinical features (amelanotic and raised lesions), nodular histotype, and thick lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Myxofibrosarcoma: Prognostic Factors and Survival in a Series of Patients Treated at a Single Institution
Roberta Sanfilippo,Rosalba Miceli,Federica Grosso,Marco Fiore,Elisa Puma,Elisabetta Pennacchioli,Marta Barisella,Claudia Sangalli,Luigi Mariani,Paolo G. Casali,Alessandro Gronchi +10 more
TL;DR: Patients with myxofibrosarcoma have a better disease-specific survival than other sarcoma subtypes, but also a higher local relapse rate, likely related to the peculiar local growth pattern of these tumors.
