Journal ArticleDOI
Risk factors associated with mortality among patients with COVID-19 in intensive care units in Lombardy, Italy
Giacomo Grasselli,Massimiliano Greco,Alberto Zanella,G. Albano,Massimo Antonelli,Giacomo Bellani,E. Bonanomi,Luca Cabrini,Eleonora Carlesso,Gian Paolo Castelli,S. Cattaneo,Danilo Cereda,S. Colombo,A. Coluccello,G. Crescini,A. Forastieri Molinari,Giuseppe Foti,Roberto Fumagalli,Giorgio Antonio Iotti,Thomas Langer,Nicola Latronico,F. L. Lorini,Francesco Mojoli,Giuseppe Natalini,C. M. Pessina,Vito Marco Ranieri,R. Rech,Luigia Scudeller,Antonio Rosano,Enrico Storti,B. T. Thompson,Marcello Tirani,Paola Villani,Antonio Pesenti,Maurizio Cecconi +34 more
TL;DR: The independent risk factors associated with mortality were evaluated with a multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression and infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 was confirmed by real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction assay of nasopharyngeal swabs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Steady-State Pharmacokinetics and BAL Concentration of Colistin in Critically Ill Patients After IV Colistin Methanesulfonate Administration
Roberto Imberti,Maria Cusato,Paola Villani,Livio Carnevale,Giorgio Antonio Iotti,Martin Langer,Mario Regazzi +6 more
TL;DR: Although the pharmacodynamic parameters that better predict the efficacy of colistin are not known in humans, in critically ill adult patients the IV administration of CMS 2 million International Units (174 mg) q8h results in apparently suboptimal plasma concentrations ofcolistin, which is undetectable in BAL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cerebrospinal fluid linezolid concentrations in postneurosurgical central nervous system infections
Paola Villani,Mario Regazzi,F. Marubbi,Pierluigi Viale,Leonardo Pagani,Francesco Cristini,Barbara Cadeo,Giampiero Carosi,Riccardo Bergomi +8 more
TL;DR: During linezolid treatment, clinical signs improved dramatically, with both complete clinical resolution and normalization of CSF findings in all patients, and findings indicate that the severity of meningeal inflammation could influence penetration of lineZolid into the brain and the CSF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exposure to radiofrequency radiation (900 MHz, GSM signal) does not affect micronucleus frequency and cell proliferation in human peripheral blood lymphocytes: an interlaboratory study.
Maria Rosaria Scarfì,Anna Maria Fresegna,Paola Villani,Rosanna Pinto,Carmela Marino,Maurizio Sarti,Pierluigi Altavista,Anna Sannino,Giorgio A. Lovisolo +8 more
TL;DR: Investigating whether 24 h exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields similar to those emitted by mobile phones induces genotoxic effects and/or effects on cell cycle kinetics in cultured human peripheral blood lymphocytes provided no evidence for the existence ofgenotoxic or cytotoxiceffects in the range of SARs investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of DNA Damage in Different Stages of Mouse Spermatogenesis after Testicular X Irradiation
Eugenia Cordelli,Anna Maria Fresegna,Giorgio Leter,Patrizia Eleuteri,Marcello Spanò,Paola Villani +5 more
TL;DR: The overall results showed that DNA damage induced in pre-meiotic germ cells is detectable in primary spermatocytes and is still present in mature spermatozoa.
