textEstablishing predictive validity of measures is a major concern in marketing research. This paper investigates the conditions favoring the use of single items versus multi-item scales in terms of predictive validity. A series of complementary studies reveals that the predictive validity of single items varies considerably across different (concrete) constructs and stimuli objects. In an attempt to explain the observed instability, a comprehensive simulation study is conducted aimed at identifying the influence of different factors on the predictive validity of single versus multi-item measures. These include the average inter-item correlations in the predictor and criterion constructs, the number of items measuring these constructs, as well as the correlation patterns of multiple and single items between the predictor and criterion constructs. The simulation results show that, under most conditions typically encountered in practical applications, multi-item scales clearly outperform single items in terms of predictive validity. Only under very specific conditions do single items perform equally well as multi-item scales. Therefore, the use of single-item measures in empirical research should be approached with caution, and the use of such measures should be limited to special circumstances.

Guidelines for choosing between multi-item and single-item scales for construct measurement: A predictive validity perspective

As companies get more cost conscious, India is becoming more attractive as an outsourcing destination. The country offers many advantages like very good technical support, cheap manpower, and skilled people and so on. India‟s time zone position has made the country a popular choice for outsourcing BPO activities. There is a lot of potential in the domestic market for a BPO; a large number of Indian and Multinational companies are entering the domestic BPO segment, the domestic market is gearing up for companies. “Business process outsourcing (BPO) is a broad term referring to outsourcing in all fields. A BPO differentiates itself by either putting in new technology or applying existing technology in a new way to improve a process.”

Machiavelli at 550—Reflections on his contribution to management, marketing, and public affairs

The article focuses on issues related to competence management in the work environment of people from the youngest generational groups, referred to as Y and Z. The area of interest of the research presented in this article is a specific area of the labor market called the Modern Business Services (MBS) sector. The peculiarity of this service sector lies primarily in the fact that it is largely an industry of the future, and therefore it employs mostly young people from the so-called Generation Y and Z. It is also one of the sectors that is growing very rapidly and, as a result, employment in this sector is growing rapidly, which indicates, on the one hand, a growing market demand for this type of service and, on the other hand, a great interest in working in this sector among young people entering the labor market. The issue of competency management in such a specific work environment raises questions about the compatibility of current education systems with the needs of rapidly growing modern industries, which includes the MBS sector. Hence, the research presented in this article, aimed at showing possible educational and competence gaps resulting from the mismatch between education systems and the needs of the developing new industries, and, at the same time, showing the needs of MBS in terms of shaping specific competencies of the future, including soft competencies increasingly valued by employers.

Managing Competences of Generation Y and Z in the Opinion of the Management Staff in the Modern Business Services Sector

The study aims to investigate the role of financial well-being of the investor on psychological fitness of clients and organizations in the emerging financial markets of India. A survey was conducted during the pandemic in Indian financial markets wherein most of people’s financial situation was extremely poor and uncertain. During the COVID-19 pandemic, retail investors who availed themselves of financial products and services from leading brokerage houses of India were investigated. The study was conducted on 290 retail investors of Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR) and the financial hub of Mumbai. The participants were approached using the purposive sampling method. The study further examined moderating effects of pleasant and unpleasant experience of investors during difficult times. The study applied partial least square multi-group analysis (PLS–MGA) for measuring invariance for pleasant and unpleasant scenarios of investors in the Indian context. The findings suggested that consumers’ well-being enhances individual satisfaction at higher enterprise levels, it also motivates individuals to manage their finances to deal with uncertain times. Additionally, the control variables of age and gender were used to measure pleasant and unpleasant experiences of investors from the base of their satisfaction level. The results suggest that during difficult times in financial markets, females exhibited higher unpleasant experiences than male investors. Further, consumers’ well-being was primarily driven by older investors with pleasant experiences during the pandemic. The present study offers an interdisciplinary approach towards measuring consumers’ psychology in the domain of behavioral finance.

Mediating role of growth needs and job satisfaction on talent sustainability in BPOs and call centres: An evidence from India

Disengaged teachers in leadership roles cannot be role models for students and teachers. Expecting them to take school too far can be too much of an expectation. This paper explores how three critical attributes of person-environment fit influence the work engagement of K12 school administrators through their organizational identification and job satisfaction. Data collected from 303 private school administrators is analysed through structural equation modelling. This work provides insight to school promoters on how they can enhance their schools’ institutional memory, the performance of students and the teachers. Besides being practically insightful, this work also attempts to broaden the theory of person-environment fit concerning organizational upshots.
