MKT 6009 Marketing Internship (0 semester credit hours) Student gains experience and improves skills through appropriate developmental work assignments in a real business environment. Student must identify and submit specific business learning objectives at the beginning of the semester. The student must demonstrate exposure to the managerial perspective via involvement or observation. At semester end, student prepares an oral or poster presentation, or a written paper reflecting on the work experience. Student performance is evaluated by the work supervisor. Pass/Fail only. The course explores three distinct areas within marketing and sales namely, digital marketing, traditional sales prospecting, and executive sales organization and strategy. The continuing convergence of the digital marketing and sales funnels has created a strategic continuum from digital lead generation to digital sales. The course identifies the current composition of this digital continuum while providing opportunities to evaluate sales and marketing digital strategies. (2-0) Y MKT 6301 (SYSM 6318) Marketing Management (3 semester credit hours) Overview of marketing management methods, principles and concepts including product, pricing, promotion and distribution decisions as well as segmentation, targeting and positioning. (3-0) S MKT 6309 Marketing Data Analysis and Research (3 semester credit hours) Methods employed in market research and data analysis to understand consumer behavior, customer journeys, and markets so as to enable better decision-making. Topics include understanding different sources of data, survey design, experiments, and sampling plans. The course will cover the techniques used for market sizing estimation and forecasting. In addition, the course will cover the foundational concepts and techniques used in data visualization and \"story-telling\" for clients and management. Corequisites: MKT 6301 and OPRE 6301. (3-0) Y MKT 6310 Consumer Behavior (3 semester credit hours) An exposition of the theoretical perspectives of consumer behavior along with practical marketing implication. Study of psychological, sociological and behavioral findings and frameworks with reference to consumer decision-making. Topics will include the consumer decision-making model, individual determinants of consumer behavior and environmental influences on consumer behavior and their impact on marketing. Prerequisite: MKT 6301. (3-0) Y MKT 6321 Interactive and Digital Marketing (3 semester credit hours) Introduction to the theory and practice of interactive and digital marketing. Topics covered include: online-market research, consumer behavior, conversion metrics, and segmentation considerations; ecommerce, search and display advertising, audiences, search engine marketing, email, mobile, video, social networks, and the Internet of Things. (3-0) T MKT 6322 Internet Business Models (3 semester credit hours) Topics to be covered are: consumer behavior on the Internet, advertising on the Internet, competitive strategies, market research using the Internet, brand management, managing distribution and supply chains, pricing strategies, electronic payment systems, and developing virtual organizations. Abstract There is a growing acknowledgement that micro-credit programs have potential for equitable and sustainable development. However, my anthropological research on the micro-credit program of the Grameen Bank shows that bank workers are expected to increase disbursement of loans among their members and press for high recovery rates to earn profit necessary for economic viability of the institution. To ensure timely repayment in the loan centers bank workers and borrowing peers inflict an intense pressure on women clients. In the study community many borrowers maintain their regular payment schedules through a process of loan recycling that considerably increases the debt-liability on the individual households, increases tension and frustration among household members, produces new forms of dominance over women and increases violence in society.

Micro-credit initiatives for equitable and sustainable development : who pays?; a case study of the Grameen Bank Program in rural Bangladesh

Polyaniline-coated sulfur/conductive-carbon-black (PANI@S/C) composites with different contents of sulfur are prepared via two facile processes including ball-milling and thermal treatment of the conductive carbon black and sublimed sulfur, followed by an in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of the aniline monomer in the presence of the S/C composite and ammonium persulfate. The microstructure and electrochemical performance of the as-prepared composites are investigated systematically. It is demonstrated that the polyaniline, with a thickness of ≈5–10 nm, is coated uniformly onto the surface of the S/C composite forming a core/shell structure. The PANI@S/C composite with 43.7 wt% sulfur presents the optimum electrochemical performance, including a large reversible capacity, a good coulombic efficiency, and a high active-sulfur utilization. The formation of the unique core/shell structure in the PANI@S/C composites is responsible for the improvement of the electrochemical performance. In particular, the high-rate charge/discharge capability of the PANI@S/C composites is excellent due to a synergistic effect on the high electrical conductivity from both the conductive carbon black in the matrix and the PANI on the surface. Even at an ultrahigh rate (10C), a maximum discharge capacity of 635.5 mA h per g of sulfur is still retained for the PANI@S/C composite after activation, and the discharge capacity retention is over 60% after 200 cycles.

A Polyaniline‐Coated Sulfur/Carbon Composite with an Enhanced High‐Rate Capability as a Cathode Material for Lithium/Sulfur Batteries

In this paper, we report conductometric sensors based on graphene/PANI nanocomposites, which were synthesized using chemical oxidative polymerization, for NH3 sensing. The experimental result reveals that the graphene/PANI sensor exhibits much higher sensitivity (ca. 5 times) than that of PANI, and shows approximate linearity over a wide range of concentrations from 1 to 6400 ppm. The detection limit of graphene/PANI sensor (ca. 1 ppm) is lower than that of PANI (ca. 10 ppm) for NH3. This shows that sensitivity of graphene/PANI sensor for NH3 detection is enhanced by the graphene added into PANI. The result is partially supported by experimental data that the NH3 adsorption of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) coated graphene/PANI is larger than that of PANI. Meanwhile, the structure and morphology of the synthesized products are characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), brunauer emmett tellerand (BET), ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV–vis), photoluminescence (PL), X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively.

Enhanced sensitivity of ammonia sensor using graphene/polyaniline nanocomposite

Polyaniline (PANI) was synthesized by oxidative polymerization of aniline using ammonium persulfate in an acid medium. The polyaniline salt was converted to base form by treatment with ammonium hydroxide. The polyaniline base was dissolved in N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) for film casting. The cast film was doped with HCl for obtaining higher conductivity. Both doped and undoped PANI films were characterized by UV-visible, FTIR, and XRD analyses. The electrical conductivity of the PANI film was studied by a four-point probe method at room temperature. Finally, ammonia gas-sensing characteristics of the prepared polyaniline film were studied by measuring the change in electrical conductivity on exposure to ammonia gas at different concentrations. The influence of concentration of acid during polymerization of aniline and dopant concentration on the gas sensing characteristics of PANI film are reported in this paper.

Influence of dopant in the synthesis, characteristics and ammonia sensing behavior of processable polyaniline

Polyaniline (PANI) salt was synthesized by oxidative polymerization of aniline hydrochloride in hydrochloric acid (HCl) medium of different concentrations. The plots of temperature of the polymerization medium with time and polymer yield with time gave valuable insight into the polymer growth and structural change of PANI with varied strength of the protonating medium. The PANI salt obtained after polymerization reaction and the PANI films obtained after post reaction doping by exposing to same strength of HCl medium showed marked resemblance of structure characterized by UV and elemental (Cl/N ratio) analyses. This provided us an opportunity to optimize the HCl concentration of the polymerization reaction medium to get PANI with better electrical conductivity and ammonia gas sensing characteristics.
